Trump’s ‘America First’ Base Unhappy with Flip-Flop Afghanistan Speech
Breitbart ^ | Aug 21st | Adam Shaw

Posted on 08/22/2017 8:21:40 AM PDT by The Numbers

President Trump’s “America First” base was the biggest loser of Trump’s speech on Afghanistan Monday night, and many quickly expressed their disappointment at the business-as-usual address from the president who had once promised to limit American intervention abroad and focus on nation-building at home. Trump’s speech, in which he pledged to increase the number of troops in the 16-year-war, was the first since the departure of Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and confirmed the fears of many on the right that without a strong nationalist voice in the West Wing, the President would revert to the same old fare that Americans had voted to reject in November.

Interesting to note the source of this article, along with the use of terms like 'flip flop'. Anyone else noticing a significant change in tone from Breitbart toward President Trump since Bannon's move?

I don't this as so much of a "flip-flop" as a slight change of course.

I'm sure Trump's supporters will not complain about anything as long as the U.S. military presence is a quiet one and we don't see U.S. casualties in Afghanistan like we did in Iraq and Afghanistan during much of the last 15 years.

I'm also half expecting President Trump to cut and run at the first sign of major trouble -- but only after a massive show of force that puts Afghanistan further back into the Stone Age than it already is.

So, this author has decided that 93-million people are “unhappy” with Trump because of his Afghanistan plans.

Just in an instance, he surmised that to be a “fact”. No surveys. No questionnaire. No influx of mail/email.

It’s another version of an “anonymous source”. Journalists don’t care WHO says something, so long as it appears THEY, themselves, aren’t stretching the truth. As long as there’s someone to attribute it to, they’re “guilt-less”.

If two people are saying it, the “everybody” is saying it. If two women are for it, and one man is against it...it becomes a “women’s issue”.

Trump is right...news - almost everywhere - is “fake”. Journalists reaching for a Pulitzer...or a job.

But, they were sure he wasn’t going to get elected, weren’t they?

Breitbart retweeting, in effect, America hating nutball Justin Raimondo. Pathetic beyond words.

And Bannon’s 24-7 drumbeat of criticism rolls on. People who want/enjoy all Trump-negative news all the time must feel like pigs in mud right about now.

Nothing but spin.

They interview a few Ann Coulters and they think they speak for all of us.

My family and I fully support the President’s decision, and we are as much a part of the base as they are.

‘Good luck to Breitbart if they think they can exist without Trump’s base. We are alreafy deserting Fox and Drudge in record numbers.’

Hear hear.

Outlets that constantly criticize Trump are a dime a dozen. The few that take a more positive tack are priceless.

We thought President Trump's speech was excellent...not all news is good news and if we have learned anything from Iraq, we can't leave Afghanistan. Not pleased with staying however, I like President Trumps no nonsense approach about how much we will help..."we're not there to (?), we're there to kill terrorists.

Bannon is not anti-Semitic..fake news.

The speech was a good one. He laid out his reasons for his decision.

Folks, there is about one place and one place only that supports Trump on the internet.

It’s here. If we want him to be able to accomplish things for us, we need to support him.

Despite what some folks think here, his decision was not severely flawed.

He campaigned on maintaining a presence in Afghanistan and fighting regardless of what he said years ago in tweets as a candidate he ran on staying in Afghanistan and fighting.

Should have never sent troops in there...Russia set the example...

‘Taliban become the latest to speak out against our president, following the mainstream media, Democrats, rinos, ISIS, Hollywood, the college administrators and North Korea. It’s never been easier to identify America’s enemies.’

First comment:

‘Let’s add Antifa to that list — Oh, my bad. ISIS is already up there’

Bannon can always get Raimundo to go up against Hannity on his new TV channel. If this armchair isolationist direction is where Breitbart is going I’m out.
