Lost in the intense debate over Charlottesville is a very important lesson that all Americans should learn. It has nothing to do with American politics or ideology. It has everything to do with history.
I have written three books about World War II and am currently researching a fourth. I can tell you with certainty that most people on this planet have no clue as to how German Nazis went about their lethal business. And that includes President Trump and many other politicians both present and past.
Exceptions are the Jewish people who directly experienced genocide at the hands of the Third Reich. In most Jewish homes around the world, the gruesome German atrocities are discussed and children are taught what happened in detail.
But in many American public schools, World War II and Nazism is barely mentioned. Adolph Hitler has become a caricature of evil, a distant monster.
He should be as vivid as today's sunrise.
The historical context of the Charlottesville reaction is that mass murder was carried out by ordinary Germans while the vast majority of that population looked away out of self-interest and fear. And these folks weren't from another planet. Did you know that German Americans comprise the largest ethnic group in this country?

I never liked O’Reilly. I always thought he was a blow hard.
His hostility towards the Second Amendment every time there was a shooting somewhere was absurd.
And the true Nazis are the antifa and the BLM, along with the Soros-paid agitators who infiltrated the white protestors at Charlottesville.
What can you expect? I only read one book by O’Reilly - Killing Lincoln - and it was loaded with mistakes. A real embarrassment.

Bill reminds me again that I will NEVER listen to or watch any new program he may start or become a part. I am tired of listening to “experts - of opinion” try to convince us that the PERMITTED Charlottesville demonstration against the removal of statues, which are a part of our history, was HATE SPEECH. As it is with ALL free speech demonstrations by Americans wanting to demonstrate their constitutionally guaranteed rights, they can be infiltrated with leftists who bring their OWN signs / banners and get noted by the media. The bottom line has become, if you are white and speak against what you believe is wrong - in this case, the removal of historical statues - than you are hateful. However, if you are anything BUT white and a conservative, you can do ANYTHING. That is BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!

So out of thousands of people, a few hundred are Nazis, so we can’t point out that other people there weren’t Nazis, and that some of them on both sides had good intentions and some didn’t? That just doesn’t make sense, I don’t care how reprehensible Nazis are. And O’Reilly says that communist leaders were bad too, but not as bad as the Nazis. I beg to differ. They were all bad.
Pleeze....he went to a military school. This is a well informed man on many levels.
There are no Nasis in this country, at least if one were to equate them to 1930s Germany. Unlike Adolph’s gang they are completely politically impotent and little more than low IQ thugs.

BORe your real failure is not stopping yourself from beating up your wife. Trump understands Nazism. It is YOU who doesn’t understand that Trump and the rest of us understand Nazism very well. Go away.

And, I suspect, that DJT also fully realizes that at least SOME of the element of “Nazis” at Charlottesville, were manufactured by some leftist organization trying to succeed at attracting MSM attention to the violence that ensued.

Both ideologies are wrong. The guy who committed murder was wrong, but the entire group of Antifa was wrongfully assembling... There is sort of a difference there.
Bill’s failure is that he is not constitutionally a conservative. He decided he could make a lot of money as a talk show host but he was perceptive enough that he understood he probably would have limited success with his political instincts so he adopted a conservative persona and views for the purpose of being a talk host. It shows occasionally when he comes down on the left side of particular issues. When he is made aware of his error he flips or goes silent on the issue or, on occasion, doubles down and insists that his is the conservative position. When he starts getting blowback he can’t ignore he goes silent there, too. But sometimes his actual views do come to the fore as with this.
We know what Bill thinks, but how does the Factor feel about it?
This is a mindless, unprofessional and wicked mess of an “article.” Does he have a nameless source who told him what President Trump knows or did he just make it up himself.
Everyone who opposes hurting innocent people should reject Hitler, Nazism, and the swastika, because those things stand for hurting innocent people.
