A newsletter posted on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) campus is starting to make the rounds on social media and it states veterans should be banned from four-year universities. Several viewers asked 11 News to look into the origin of the newsletter.
The letter states military veterans should be banned from classes and compares the military culture to white supremacist groups.
The newsletter is titled "Social Justice Collective Weekly" and says it is the first issue. A spokesperson for UCCS said the newsletter has nothing to do with the school and does not represent the institution's views. However, it was approved by the university and posted on a bulletin board. The school says anyone is allowed to post items on the board.
The university explained while this group is not affiliated with the college, they say it is free speech and the group can post what they want.
The article says veterans should be banned from UCCS and other four-year colleges. It also generalizes veterans and says they are unsympathetic to the LGBTQ community. The article says all veterans have far right-wing ideologies.
"They [the authors of the letter] try and talk about inclusion as a principle," said UCCS student Joe Hollmann. "Yet, they're excluding one of the most important members of society, those that are guarding our freedom to even talk about this."
"There's a lot of hate in the world," said fellow UCCS student Caleb Hensley. "You can't fight hate with hate."
All of the students 11 News interviewed on campus disagreed with the stance the letter takes. The newsletter was also in the library and other places, but students have been taking them down.

... generalizes veterans and says they are unsympathetic to the LGBTQ community ...
Well, they did get that part correct, but veterans have as much right to education as any of the “safe place” people.
Fine - ALL FED FUNDS should also be correspondingly banned from four year universities. Zip, zero, nada - live off your multi-billion dollar endowments.
>Now the filth are beginning to target Veterans.<
That’s Ok because I’m targeting them.
I can actually understand why they want this, Vets are less likely to put up with their BS and say “I am paying for this course hear me out!”
Banning veterans from attending universities is certainly hateful, surely everyone would agree?
I wonder how the university felt about the "hateful" speech in Charlottsville? Were those groups also free to say what they wanted?
UCCS is a joke of a school anyway. The rigor of instruction is bottom of the barrel. This is one of the schools where you think improving education means shutting such a retarded institution down.
Progressives are Tyrants. They can go to Hell where they belong.
I’m disappointed, but not surprised. Because there WILL eventually be a push to remove all military statues, street names, etc. (not just Confederate ones).
Someone should put up their own sing that says no one not a veteran should be allowed in school because they failed to learn what freedom of speech actually is.
Were truth spoken again, we’d learn that a vast majority of Americans are unsympathetic to the Sodomite community.
As expected. It sticks in thier crawl that vets are supported to the degree that they are.
Shouldn’t Washington State be ejected from the Several States?
After all, it’s name after a slave owner represents slavery.
They’re going to need a better scope.
Commies never stop
The tactics are always the same
The memo reads that veteran’s should be allowed education at trade schools and/or community colleges. Wow, aren’t they little elitist snobs. Hmmmmm, how would that read if they substituted “black” or “hispanic” instead of veteran??
I’m right next to you and millions of others.
Leftist filth are trying to outdo the "'60s".
If only that was 100% true.
