I have the best job in the whole wide world: Im a teacher who gets to advocate for kids and for the work NEA members do, no matter what our job titles, to cultivate students curiosity and set them off toward fulfilling, successful futures. On September 8 at the National Press Club Headliners Luncheon, Ill get the chance to speak about all of that, along with the challenges we face and how we uplift public education in the pro-voucher Trump era.
Im humbled by the company Im in. Past luncheon speakers have included Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, former Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Garrison Keilor, U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, and Billie Jean King. Wow!
I am also extremely grateful, because this provides a great platform for sharing our values as well as our enthusiasm for teaching, supporting, and nurturing students. Thats a super big deal, and I dont take lightly my obligation to speak up for our kids and the 3 million members across the nation. So be forewarned: I dont plan on mincing words during my remarks or during the question-and-answer period afterwards.
And speaking of questions, you can submit yours by 10 a.m. on the day of the event by emailing them to email@example.com. Make sure GARCIA is in the subject line.
If youre in the area, I hope you can attend the luncheon. My remarks are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. If you have questions, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call (202) 6627501.
One more person that should not be in a position of authority over our children.
When you have to put out a statement about what a badass you are,
Then you aren’t a badass.
They do nothing to uplift education. Their goal is $$ and mediocrity at best.
What an assemblage of wisdom: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tom Vilsak, Garrison Keilor, Ban Ki-Moon, and Billie Jean King. Surprised they missed Maxine Waters, Sheila Jackson Lee, and Al Sharpton. Just wow . . .
What do you make per year...pay,bonuses,benefits,etc?
When will you be having that highly esteemed "educator",Bill Ayers, peaking to your members?
Since the NEA was founded education levels have done nothing but fall. It is a communist government run program designed to take power of education away from local communities.
That so-called "liberal/progressive" movement intentionally diminished the role of parents and schools in teaching students about their Creator-endowed rights and responsibilities, their individual role as citizens in their communities, and the character training which once was the goal and aim of education in America
Do older readers of this thread remember when such character training was a part of the school day?
Do any now retired teachers remember when the National Education Association provided booklets and other materials based on Biblical teachings and America's founding documents in order to teach children their rights and responsibilities as good citizens? At my desk right now is a little booklet, one of the many, which the NEA published and provided for teachers across the nation
Perhaps an examination of this web site may refresh the minds of such teachers. Or, perhaps a reading of this factual account of NEA publications may enlighten others who are younger to understand the degree to which the "progressive" control of education in America may have contributed to our current dilemma.
"Ideas have consequences." - Weaver
Eskelson is a major proponent of drugging as many children as possible. She is a horrible and evil person.
Prediction: She’ll self identify with Antifa, BLM and BAMN.
Oh, she is silly.
Hey, silly Lilly, you mad? You support ANITFA activities?
Afer school Satan?
The capture of the entire education establishment was the first part of the plan to come to fruition, it made taking over the media much easier. With both of those and control of both parties, America as founded was finished.
KGB plans laid in the 1950’s are why traditional Americans are besieged in their own country in this century.

What a frikkin' laugh! All people like this do is hamstring kids futures by bogging them down with political propaganda, half-truths and outright lies. How we ever stood by and let education get this out of hand is beyond me.
I'd hate to be in their shoes when the inevitable CW2 comes.
I sure do and I thank God it was.
That’s obscene and makes me want to puke.
Bingo! Just like all real heros decline the title but rather usually say something like, “I was just doing my duty” or “I just did what anyone else would have done.”
My father was a teacher in the public schools for 35 years and then at a private school for 16 more.
He had little use for the teacher’s union. While they were fighting to increase the maximum number of days you could “bank” and get paid fir outright at retirement from 260 to unlimited, dad was busy trying to give kids the best education he could. Holding a Ph.D. In Linguistics, he taught Honors level Latin and Classical Greek and coached debate. He had little use for those that quibbled over two minutes here and commas in contracts.
I can’t imagine his take on these fools.
I guess Billie Jean King is an honorary member of the People With Funny or Unpronounceable Names Club.
