Another factor: Those in office have already lined their pockets and secured the financial futures of themselves their families. They don’t give a sh!t about the average voter, or their future intentions. They are already “in the clear.”
(Most) People go into politics to get rich, not to serve their country.
Trump is an exception.
If it were that easy we would not be in this mess. The fact is once these "idiots" get into office and get entrenched they can almost never be defeated. They rig the system where they cannot be beaten. They have access to the media and the ability to buy votes that a primary challenger does not have. It's not just a simple as not voting for them.
I finally figured out why the Germans are committing cultural suicide, it finally dawned on me that they are bringing all these slims into the heart of Europe so that when Germany blows up it will get revenge on the rest of Europe. I get that and it is “Evil Genius” tier brilliant.
But why are we doing it? At least the Germans have a motive. With us it is just stupid.
Oh so their primary vote totals (with always low turnout numbers) are just purchased votes? The supposedly pissed-off people in those states just seem to be on the low-ebb on primary day?
Are the people that will swear that they are “smarter” than the left, just easily convinced that the person they complain about after the election, is all of a sudden “good” via a few campaign ads?
And after the election, all of these people that claim to hate what that rep or senator are doing, just seem to be too busy to make themselves seen?
Either the average GOP voter is a shiftless layabout (and need to correct this problem), or they can stop looking down their noses at the GOPe because their laziness or rank stupidity is what gives them those people.

Regarding your argument than Anne has a bad memory, you cite no quotations by Democrats during the 2004 election. You might also look at statements made by the Hollywood and Media wings of that party. Wasn’t that year’s candidate John Kerry, who was for the war before he was against it?
You're absolutely right. The dems were major hypocrites with their sudden 180-deg phony flip flops on the war leading up to the election. Ann apparently forgot to mention that.
No all the votes are not purchased. Most elections are won or lost with a few percentage points. Even “landslide” election numbers are still reletively close in vote totals. Given the extensive advantages to an encumbent running a primary challenge and winning is a long shot at best.
The left at its core is pure evil. The left loves Islam for the simple fact that they have mutual goals. The ultimate goal of the left is the same as Islam and that is to have the power to simply murder everyone that will not submit to their rule. Birds of a feather flock toghether.
