Prayers for those affected by the coming hurricane storm, both humans and animals.
Are there RV dealers who let people take their RVs away to escape in order to keep their inventory safe? I not, they should.
It’d be a long drive, but:
“KY Parks Offer Discounts to FL Residents for Irma”
At check in, refer to code PR25 and show your Florida driver’s license.
I believe this is only for lodges and cottages. More info. at the link.
Thanks for that neat link. I will send it to my family.
Would that be a hurricane cataract?
Seriously, what does a cloudy eye portend? Weakening or strengthening?
I thought they were going to open I-75 Northbound in both lanes?

“””The NHC track is still predicting a westward bend to the track before the north turn. SO far, it isnt happening.”””
Today is the day for that westward bend to happen or not. By 8am Friday we should know if Irma going to be closer to the Bahamas than Florida.
Gov. Scott giving a briefing from WPB mentioned lake Okeechobee. Says level is at 13’ and being lowered. He got choked up as he started. Tells me it’s a big worry of his. The dam is old and being renovated as are the drainage channels.
Spoke with my sister who lives in Satellite Beach, just south of Cape Canaveral and Patrick AFB. The entire island is being evacuated. Her house is about a couple hundred feet from the Atlantic beach and maybe fifteen feet above sea level, so it’s time to bug out to safety. I experienced a 115 mph typhoon in Taipei. Cannot imagine what 185 mph would be like.
a place called ballard park, it is a safe a place as i can ask for.
as far as bravery goes Jesus is my pilot of what shall i fear?
I checked the map. The south tip of Florida is about 70 miles south of me. If Irma’s eye goes straight up the center of the peninsula it would take about 3 to 4 hours to reach here. Since the eye would be over land during that time, how much could Irma weaken?
I think talking about it in addition convinces anyone on the fence that the shelters are a safer bet, especially for families with kids and/or seniors.
What about non interstate highways?
I know people automatically head towards 75 and 95 to head north, but are the US highways and smaller state and county roads also clogged?
It might be better traveling on the more inland roads anyway, at least versus 95, which looks to be directly in the forecast path.
Anyone on the ground have any reports on those highways and byways?
