Most Voters Welcome Trump’s Outreach to Congressional Democrats
Rasmussen ^ | September 13th, 2017 | Unattributed

Posted on 09/13/2017 8:40:18 AM PDT by Mariner

Despite their failure to advance President Trump’s agenda, congressional Republicans aren’t happy about his outreach to Democrats in the House and Senate, but most voters think it’s a great idea.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 66% of Likely U.S. Voters say it is good for the country if Trump works with congressional Democrats to advance his agenda. Just 13% think the bipartisan cooperation is bad for the country, while 21% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Only 19% believe the president should continue to rely on congressional Republicans to pass his agenda. That’s down from 29% in early April. Sixty-five percent (65%) now feel he should reach out more to Democrats in Congress for help versus 58% who felt that way five months ago. Sixteen percent (16%) are not sure.

Republicans (72%) are even more enthusiastic about the president working with congressional Democrats than Democrats (62%) and voters not affiliated with either major party (63%) are.

This result should terrify Republicans in Congress.

And it will.

Still, they are too corrupt and set in their ways to react.

72% of Republican voters support abandoning Ryan/McConnell and making a deal with Democrats.

Serves these dirty bastards right.

Trump did NOT get elected because he’s a Republican.

Republican is NOT a highly-regarded brand amongst the body politic.

Their main advantage is that they aren’t Democrats.

I just love this. I don’t mind him going around those Rinos one bit. In fact I wish I had thought about that myself for him to do.

Sure, they do...

You always love when Republicans “reach out” to do what democrats want.

In this case, though, I am willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt.

The corruptocrats in Washington IN HIS OWN PARTY have been obstructing him far more than they ever obstructed Obama.

He needs to go on the warpath and get RINO’s tossed out of office, and say so.

Plus it will be just all SORTS of fun watching Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi try to explain to their base why they are cutting deals with Hitler.

The beltway GOP has shown over the past 9 months that they do not want to govern with Trump in the White House. Not much POTUS can do about that. Time for Plan B.

History shows us 90% of incumbents will win reelection. The problem is much of the GOP base thinks their guy is great and it’s the other “RINOs” who are the problem.

Now all the phony Repukes and NeverTrumpers are gonna say, “See we told you he would sell us out.” Save it for the few idiots who still believe the GOP is still a vital political party.

Agree, serves them right and I will take some progress over NOTHING!

Those still shrieking for purity need to understand it will not happen.

Progress, not perfection!

Well said. The folks in Paul Ryan’s district think he’s great. He beat Paul Nehlen by seventy percentage points in the GOP primary last August.

"Well, he is destroying the country. But he DID get us funding for a new rec center, and to repave that bypass off the main highway.

Exactly. The local yokels don’t give a damn about national politics as long as their “guy” or “gal” in Congress is bringing home the pork!

The idea sounds great in principle. But in practice, Democrats are now marching in lock step to a hard left agenda and any initiative involving democrat votes would almost certainly be bad for the country.

Conservative Orthodoxy has become a dirty whore, drunk on the blood and toils of the American people.

Who cares what the “TRUE” Conservatives think?

Yeah, virtually 100% of the obama supporters and maybe 10% of rinos approve. Nice, very nice. No doubt it terrifies republicans and heartens the DNC. Can we only imagine if Barark Hussein had done the same?

Uh, like anything the Republicans come up with would not be bad for for the country?

Do you remember the Corker Amendment, universally supported by Republicans?

It gutted the Constitution’s Treaty Clause.

How about their effected and proposed trade deals? Do you contend those are good for the country?

I reluctantly tolerate this “cooperation” for now. That’s a whole lot different than “support”. These people are snakes. The Republicans aren’t quite snakes, just retarded scorpions.
