ASBURY PARK -- The city's former acting police chief, Anthony Salerno Jr., filed a lawsuit last month against the city and its officials, claiming his promotion to full chief was hindered because he is white.
Salerno's lawsuit, filed in Monmouth County Superior Court on Aug. 30 and obtained by the Asbury Park Press, is the second racial discrimination lawsuit filed against the city in nearly three months. Sgt. Marshawn Love claims he was demoted by Salerno because he is black.
But in Salerno's case, he claims Mayor John Moor, who is white, Councilman Jesse Kendle and Councilwoman Yvonne Clayton, who are both black, prevented Salerno from shedding the "acting" title to "satisfy their agenda of promoting more officers of color in the (police) Department," the lawsuit states.
"It is clear that racial motivations, not financial considerations, are forestalling the legitimate promotion of Deputy Chief Anthony Salerno," the lawsuit says.
Salerno, then a 26-year veteran of the police department, was promoted from captain to deputy chief in May 2014. He became acting chief following the retirement of police Chief Mark Kinmon.

But good for him for using his enemies tactics against them.
I believe it’s likely.
In academia, reverse discrimination is rampant.
I’m fairly certain I missed a promotion once due to diversity. It’s pretty obvious when you hear the chatter.
Dallas and Fort Worth both “decided” to select blacks for their next chiefs, Dallas’s also a woman.
No telling how many superior, qualified, in-house candidates who were white were passed over for these appointments.
Of course with a name like Salerno, the 'Sicilian' heritage might be a tough sell. Too bad his name is not Corleone.
happened to my father..
He was NYPD for 23 years. 17 years on the job, including 5 as an NYPD detective, he take the sergeants exam...he was bypassed for promotion by people who had half the job experience and got half the score on the test (42’s compared to my father’s 88) because he was white...they (my dad and others) sued the city and the lawsuit was thrown out thanks to quota hiring...this was mid-to-late 80’s..
The new haven firefighters suit from 5/6 years ago changed a lot of things...
190 million white people in this country should ALL file discrimination suits against an enemy government determined to marginalize us and favor ANY non-white over us.
Or better yet, we throw THEM out of their jobs and hire people who actually have OUR interests at heart instead of the entirety of the African and Indian continents.
In this day and age, very high probability he was discriminated against.

Salerno is a coastal city south of Naples.
I’ve traveled extensively on business across the world.
I can tell you that seeing the wreckage of the Soviet Union is palpable verification of what Alisa Rosenbaum aka Ayn Rand was warning of.
70 years of holding back or outright murdering their Best and Brightest resulted in countries full of Europeans living in 2nd or 3rd world nightmares trapped in 1917 technologically.
They are only now coming out of it but the attitudes of state sponsored impediments to innovation and efficiency are still there in the older generation, and the endemic corruption that state run “enterprizes” generates is still rooted in many industries and hard to dislodge.
But what they see with their own lying eyes is a better life if they can overcome that crap and that is definitely happening, even in the center of the cesspool, which is Russia.
But as even the dimbulb Communists found out, you can’t fool all the people all the time. They see what everyone else has and they want it, and they will get it, no matter how many fat bumpkins pining for the good old days try to stand in their way.
I had to wait approximately 5 years for promotion, because the State of New York gave extra affirmative action points to minorities on the Correctional Sergeant’s test. I had a 92, but they promoted people farther down on the list based on the extra points they gave them. I’m a white female, and there were a hell of a lot less of us in the department in those days, than blacks and hispanics, especially if you count the prisons/work release facilities in the New York City and upstate area. I not only lost the salary that would have come with the promotion, but I lost seniority to people who were promoted over me. Because of that, several were eligible to take the next Lieutenant’s test, and were promoted again.
It happened to my husband. He was supposed to become supervisor of a division in a quasi-governmental organization. A black chick with zero qualifications wanted the position so, instead of bucking the diversity cult, they gave her the job.
After four months the division failed. Instead of letting her go and replacing her with a competent person, they shut down the division. They had to let everyone go. It was easier than “singling her out” and causing a racial rukus, law suits, etc.
To mollify one litigious critter, several people suffered.
