How Matt Drudge became the pipeline for Russian propaganda
Drudge Report has linked nearly 400 times to RT, Sputnik News, TASS since 2012 Blog 11 hours 57 min ago MATT GERTZ
On July 17, 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine, killing 298 passengers and crew. The next day, President Barack Obama alleged that the responsible parties were Russian-backed separatists seizing territory in the region following Russias annexation of Crimea. Obamas statement came amid a furious effort by Russian propaganda outlets to foster confusion about the act. In their telling, the tragedy had actually been a failed attempt by Ukrainians to shoot down President Vladimir Putins plane.
The Russian propaganda effort received a substantial boost when right-wing internet journalist Matt Drudge highlighted a story on the topic from RT.com, the website of the Russian government-backed English-language news channel RT. Drudge titled the resulting item on the Drudge Report, his highly trafficked link aggregation website, RT: Putins plane might have been target... in bright red text.
After Drudge propelled the RT story to his massive audience, it was picked up by right-wing U.S. conspiracy websites. (Others on the right warned that Drudge had gone too far by aiding a Russian disinformation campaign.)

Media Matters: Funded by Nazi George Soros.
Attempt to cut off alternative news sources. Clever.
These people are smears of dung. I’ll take RT over CNN any day. With a little salt, but I’ll take it still.
Drudge must be doing something right if Soreass is desperate enough to push more Russia BS at him.
Time to blow the cover and go after the real criminals.
This is only marginally on point, and not enough for its own thread, so please go easy on me.
I am a large fan of Emma Stone and made the extremely rare decision to watch her on Stephen Colbert’s show. His monologue was less pointed than expected. Maybe he has a harder time defending socialism, communism and North Korea than usual.
Then I fast-forwarded through an extended interview with some old woman dressed in clothes Mao Tse-tung might have worn. The audience seemed enthralled with the old bag as she hawked her book, What Happened?.
Then Emma Stone came on and validated my love for her when the first words out of her mouth were, “Who was that?”
Russia Is Back!
I guess it bumps the latest
Demoncrap scandal from the headlines!
He put the article up front and center on his page. He’s mocking them.
Emma’s a doll, isn’t she ?
Emma gives great sarcasm, too.
Was he behind the Pepe memes too?
>> it was picked up by right-wing U.S. conspiracy websites
All of the RushaRushaRusha talk is barking moonbat left-wing conspiracy theorizing.
I didn’t see any of it and wasn’t influenced by it.
LOL. Anyone that reads the Drudge Report knows he don’t like Trump and never has.
No. Flat bimbo.
I’m surprised Media Matters is allowed here. All those Russian site are more reputable.
This is from that gay Nazi who had a heart attack the other day.
Not his age I would say it’s probably a bunch of gay sex mixed with meth.
he started out as a conservative at UC Berkeley, very flip to the dark side.
he’s the one who had to sell his home in order to raise cash to pay off James alefantis, who was blackmailing him saying he would squeal about Brock’s financial scandals.
This is garbage.
#5. Please don’t use the word “blow” and Media Matters in the same story. I might excite MM leader David Brock so much he’d wet his panties.
LOL, will watch the wording, especially re Brock.
I call it Fecal Matters since it was founded by a bone-smuggler.
RT is not bad.
