The Democratic Party is looking at Donald Trumps approval ratings and sees an opening. Maybe they can ride a blue wave and retake Congress, except its already off to a bumpy start. For starters, the Democratic Party has no message, no leader, and no agenda. Yes, that better deal was pitched, but its vanished largely forgotten by voters and for good reason. It was a carbon copy of Hillary Clintons failed 2016 campaign platform. Democrats need 24 seats to flip the House and theyre viewing GOP districts in which Hillary won as their road to victory. Yet, thats the issue. The road to the majority goes through red districts, but theyre not receptive to Democratic politics. In some areas, and fellow Democrats have noted this, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is more reviled and unpopular than Donald Trump. The red flag for this was Jon Ossoffs defeat in Georgias sixth congressional race, the most expensive in history. The special election was held to replace former Rep. Tom Price, who is now Heath and Human Services secretary.
Former Dem Rep. Harold Ford: The Democrats Better Deal Platform Is Already Forgotten By Voters
Ossoff was unable to break 48 percent. It was the largest turnout for Democrats in ten yearsand he still lost. At the end of the day, some moderate Republicans may not like Trump, but theyre not flipping for the Democrats. Furthermore, surveys have shown that a) there are not enough suburban districts to win back the Democratic majority; b) every suburban district is different; and c) even if every Hillary voter who a GOP member of Congress flipped in 2018it would not be enough to win back the house. Democratic attacks against Trump on personality and policy have also failed miserably, with the added obstacle that every core item of the liberal agenda falls flat with votersminimum wage hikes, free college, and even health care register at low levels with those outside of the base. Single-payer may seem sound on paper, but once details are fleshed out, support drops. Even at the outset, voters view the latter with a healthy amount of skepticism concerning benefits and costs.
Former DNC Chair Ed Rendell: Democrats Have Not Found A Message Yet
Now, one candidate in a targeted race, New Yorks 27th congressional district, has decided to call it quits after donors felt that she couldnt beat the incumbent Republican (via Free Beacon):
A top Democratic recruit in an upstate New York district the party is hoping to flip in 2018 announced she is ending her campaign, citing unrealistic fundraising demands by the party for a race her donors don't think can be won.
Erin Cole announced in July she would be running against Republican representative Chris Collins in New York's 27th district, which the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) labeled as one of its targeted districts earlier this year. Cole, an Army veteran, was immediately celebrated by party officials for her "exciting resume" and deemed a "serious contender" in the district.
Cole announced this week on Facebook, however, that she was putting an end to her campaign because her donors are unwilling to meet the DCCC's calls for her to raise $350,000 each quarter through next November.
"After speaking with multiple donors, PACs, and some unions, the majority think that a Dem can't win this district," she wrote.
Now, Republicans shouldnt get cozy. We still have health care, immigration, and tax reform to get through Congress. Yet, Democrats still have yet to figure out that voters dont like themand thats the saving grave for the GOP. Its just that the Left is much, much worse than the GOP. That could change if congressional Republicans dont get moving on legislation. For the Left, Democratic operatives are also warning that Trumps low approval ratings dont mean a wave is coming. In fact, some have noted with that logic, the party is once again heading for the cliff. In NY-23, it looks like thats already happened.
OMG these folks are idiots.
Oh, look, Boo-Hoo Girl’s mother is crying! Har!
The Dems targeted Mike Coffman three elections in a row after gerrymandering a bunch of Dems into his district and lost every time. He won reelection last time even though the district went for Hillary. I see his name again as one of the “targets.”
I luv it when Dem B’tchez cry because they walked on a Political Platform of SPLINTERS held together by Crazy Glue.
It’s pretty darn hard to come up with a message when they know that whatever it is it will offend a third of their base - they have painted themselves into a corner BIG TIME!
I can help them with their message:
With single payer, if you like your health care plan, youll be able to keep your health care plan, period.
With single payer, if you like your doctor, you will be able to keep your doctor, period.
Single payer will lower costs by up to $2,500 for a typical family per year.
For those Americans who still have health insurance even after Obamacare, single payer will mean that their insurance is stronger, better, and more secure than it was before.
Under single payer, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase.
Single payer will not add one dime to our deficits either now or in the future.
Single payer will mean more choice, more competition, and lower costs for millions of Americans.
I'm sure enough of the American people will believe all of that. Again.
I must respectfully disagree with Rendell. The dimocrat message is getting out. Americans won’t have nuthin to do with it.
The democrats don’t need to win elections, because, even when they lose, they still run things. And, when they do win elections and gain majorities in the house and senate, along with winning the presidency, they know how to take advantage and pass things with “unity” and their don’t care attitude about negative feedback. That is how they passed Obamacare, and that is how they protect their liberal/progressive legacy with so many social(istic) programs in the country which reflect their incessant march towards turning the country towards socialism.
I'm thinking they might lose even more...
Keep talking Maxine...keep flapping these lips...
Every conservative in a tight race should have a commercial with Maxine Waters saying some of the most ridiculous thing with a tag line
"Do you want her to get more power ? "
So, not only does the Democratic Party have no message, no leader and no agenda, but they FORCE their OWN “serious contender” out of a “targeted” race by not only NOT providing resources, but making impossible demands on the candidate!
Keep up the good work, Democrats!
Re: “Now Republicans shouldn’t get COZY.”
Now, if they did get Cozy with (Erin) Cole, you’d have “Cozy Cole Part II” to play.
Only the old timers will know what I’m talking about.
Bye Dems...your party symbol should be the lemmings...you are fall off a cliff...
Im having a hard time rejoicing .. Are we still playing the democrat bad vs republican good game? Will somebody please tell me what good the republicans have done since the election? I think they are showing their true colors, that there isnt much of a difference between the parties. Its all a charade. Im not playing this game anymore.
