A friend sent me this: NFL RULES!!The specific rule pertaining to the national antwhem is found on pages A62-63 of the league rule book. It states: “The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. “During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. WThe home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be poinwted out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”

I was at BWW for lunch yesterday, when the game started, (I live in PIttsburgh) the entire bar unprompted, cheered #78... and BOOed the rest of the team when they came out of the tunnel.
Talk radio is lit up with people absolutely bashing the Stillerz...

Apparently, dissent stopped being patriotic on January 20.
I think for PR reasons he’ll either get traded (does the NFL still do trades?) or be released next year after the flap dies down. I read about Villanueva and it’s not like he was a first round pick. He had to work and overcome getting cut by a couple of teams. So it’s not like he’s an All-Pro player. All the more credit to him as this was a very courageous move.
One note - I saw that several coaches were on the field, including Tomlin (not positive).
Why did he head out to the field if the “team” was protesting?
Remember - they are all union members, and Gooddell comes from a far left background.
