Scalise, the House Majority Whip, returned to Capitol Hill on Thursday for the first time since June, when he took a 9mm bullet to the hip during baseball practice at an Alexandria, Va. baseball field.
"I'm back," Scalise tweeted at about 10 a.m. Thursday.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) reportedly became emotional when he saw his longtime colleague at the Capitol on Thursday.
The gunman, James Hodgkinson, wounded five people including Scalise during the June 14 shooting, which occurred as lawmakers practiced for the Congressional Baseball Game a day later.

Rep. Steve Scalise says recovering from congressional baseball shooting was like rebuilding Humpty Dumpty
Scalise was shot with a 7.62mm SKS rifle. The shooter had a 9mm pistol with him but it was not used. So much for accuracy in the reporting.
Notice no mention of the shooter as “left-wing extremist” or “alt-Left” or even “Democrat activist”...
Rep. Scalise thanks his security detail in the article. I think there are still a lot of unanswered questions about what level of security they were providing while sitting in their vehicle some distance away from the ball field.
James Thomas Hodgkinson had participated in the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign during the 2016 United States presidential election...
He wrote 27 letters to the editor of the Belleville News-Democrat between March 2008 and September 2012 on various political and economic topics, many of which were anti-Republican.
On May 22, 2017, Hodgkinson wrote “Trump is a Traitor. Trump Has Destroyed Our Democracy. It’s Time to Destroy Trump & Co.” ...
He belonged to numerous politically-oriented Facebook groups, including those named “Terminate the Republican Party,” ...
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which took over the investigation, said on June 14 that it was too early to ascribe a motive for the shootings. [!?!?!?!?!?!?]
I saw this on TV. He still has a lot of trouble walking. Two canes and hobbling from side to side.
Scalise returns to Congress:
Poor NYDN writers. They’re so anti-gun that they don’t even know the weapon Scales was shot with. They say it was a 9 mm bullet that wounded him when it was a 7.62 mm bullet fired from a SKS rifle that used 7.62 x 39 ammo. His injuries would’ve been a lot less severe from a 9 mm pistol bullet.
This brought tears to my eyes...did you see Rand Paul, oh my gosh, I thought he was going to fill a bucket with tears...
The Lord answered Our Prayers and Thank You Lord for protecting those that mean a lot to us. Amen.
Ongoing prayers for Steve and his family.
Did he follow Antifa or associated groups?
Powerful testimony from this man. He thanks his bravery security detail, the Army Ranger medic and prayers from everyone. #GodlyTestimony. I had to watch it, even though it was CBS.
Yes. It was very moving.
I don’t know of any SKS that could even be barreled to shoot 9mm
“I dont know of any SKS that could even be barreled to shoot 9mm”
Yes, and a 9mm would not have done the terrific damage to Scalise that the rifle round did. Plus from where the shooter was firing, he’d have been lucky to hit Scalise at all with handgun.
I'd say that was faked emotion by Lyin' Ryan...at best.
I wonder how much his insurance covered.
Glad he’s back. He’s fortunate to be exempt from Obamacare.
