Bannon warns: "end of everything" if Trump supports gun controls

President Trump may say he's a defender of gun ownership rights, but with all the gun control pressure he'll be under after Las Vegas, how do we know he'll resist it — especially after the debt limit deal with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, and his flirtation with a deal on DACA?

Bottom line: Trump's allies, both inside and out of the White House, are mostly sure he'll resist because he owes too much to the NRA and its supporters — but even some of them aren't 100 percent sure.

What they're saying: Since the Las Vegas shooting, we've spoken or texted with more than 20 sources inside and out of the White House — all people who've worked close enough to Trump to have something useful to say about his likely next moves. Most say they can't imagine him doing a Chuck-and-Nancy deal on gun control.

-snip-

Besides, as former Trump adviser Roger Stone told me: "Base would go insane and he knows it."

I asked Steve Bannon whether he could imagine Trump pivoting to the left on guns after the Las Vegas massacre. "Impossible: will be the end of everything," Bannon texted. When asked whether Trump's base would react worse to this than they would if he supported an immigration amnesty bill, Bannon replied: "as hard as it is to believe actually worse."

"POTUS (correctly) believes he doesn't owe anything to most traditional Republican outside groups, because they didn't lift a finger to help him in the election," said a Trump administration source. "NRA is very much the exception. They stayed loyal through it all and kept spending." We're told Trump feels a personal connection to the NRA and is close to the NRA's top lobbyist, Chris Cox.

If it were possible, this whole thing would be comical. The guy used guns that are already illegal. Case closed - to reasonable people.

Good. Gun control would have no effect on this. Murders in Maryland (all causes) increased 48% in the year AFTER the legislature rammed a gun control act down our throats

Has the president said anything about gun control???

I’m sorry, fans, but Bannon is a big mouth.

The NRA isn’t a Republican group at all. They’ve been one of the most effective non-partisan lobbying groups in Washington for decades. The only reason they support mostly Republicans right now is that Democrats in Congress are heavily concentrated in urban areas and are rabid gun control totalitarians. Most of the Democrats who represent rural districts that are the base of NRA support have been swept out of Congress over the years.

No, it's not the end of everything. The Second Amendment is a fact, and not one that even a president can ignore.

Bannon is getting a little big for his britches. He needs to STFU with these threats to Trump.

-—Trump’s allies, both inside and out of the White House, are mostly sure he’ll resist because he owes too much to the NRA and its supporters...-—

On the other hand, this President may well resist simply because (drum roll) - it’s the right thing to do?

Wow - who’da thought THAT would be the reason?

Unfortunately, after God and morality has been chased out of the public square by proponents of gun control, incidents such as what happened in Las Vegas have become the price of remaining free. It is a high price, but very much worth it. How much freedom would we have with gun control? Ask the residents of Chicago. Ask those who lived in Nazi Germany under Hitler. Ask those who lived in Cuba under Castro. Ask those who lived in Russia under Lenin and Stalin. Ask those who live in Communist China. And finally, ask those who live in North Korea. The citizens were disarmed in ALL of those cases.

Submitting to gun control is foolish, short-sighted and cowardly and will have precisely the opposite effect as its ostensible intent.

I don't know why everyone goes so crazy about gun control. Chicago has the strictest gun control laws in the country and nobody ever gets shot there. Right?

Bannon warns: “end of everything” if Trump supports gun controls.

And he is absolutely correct. The President must not give even an inch on this issue. In fact the best strategy would be to do the exact opposite and support the dismantling of the NFA. Start with legalizing suppressors then removing the 86 ban on machine guns.

Now is the second amendment supporters NFL moment. It's time to insist that democrats shut up about more gun control. We had that debate in 1776 and they lost. Now is the time to insist we remove any federal infringements on the second amendment whatsoever.

Repeal the NFA. There is no reason law abiding citizens should be banned from possessing suppressors and automatic weapons just as the framers intended.

Therein lies the problem. Too many UNreasonable assclowns in positions of power that can crush our pathetic little lives with the stroke of a pen. Will they get voted out next year or will their numbers grow. You know the antis are gonna go all in on this one. They didn’t wait until the blood dried yesterday to crank it up.

Why do people keep posting this? It’s not true.

You can own a fully automatic weapon if you go through the correct process and pay the appropriate taxes.

Not a good plan to base a defensive argument on false information.

I’d be up for some commonsense abortion control/abortion safety laws if the left wants to take some surefire measures to stop senseless killing.

I’m curious what new law(s) involving guns or not would prevent a psychopathic maniac from committing mass murder. How many laws did the Vegas shooter break in committing this act of pure evil. I think the list would be quite extensive.
