A California man shot in the leg during Sunday night’s shooting in Las Vegas refused to allow his wound to prevent him from standing when President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump entered his hospital room.
…and what a touching moment it was.
Thomas Gunderson was attending the concert at the Route 91 Harvest Festival when Stephen Paddock began firing on the crowd from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino, according to the Daily Mail.
The president and first lady were in Las Vegas on Wednesday to visit with victims and first responders of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
The incredible moment a patriotic Gunderson struggled to his feet was captured on video, first when Mrs. Trump entered his room and again when the president came in.
“Hi Thomas. How are you?’ the first lady is heard asking the wounded man as he rises to his feet. “No, no, don’t get up.”
Trump soon enters the enters the room and Gunderson rises again, not able to remain standing when he greeted the first lady.
“Hey, this guy looks tough to me,” Trump can be heard saying as he gives Gunderson a warm handshake.
Gunderson was reportedly running toward Mandalay Bay when he was shot in his leg.

If you listen to the audio of this clip carefully, President Trump came into the room a brief time after the First Lady came in because he was outside getting an update on the guy’s condition before he came in.
