I went to GoogleEarth and found out why: A large porch-like roof extends away from the window area around the second floor. The glass chunks would have to sail away from the wall a pretty good distance before they’d clear the low roof and impact the ground.

That is a conflicting part of the events. Have seen it reported that police were shot at by 200 bullets. After they found the guard shot. You have to wonder why Paddock would fire 200 shots at an unarmed guard. He knew who was out there cause he had three cameras looking into hallway. So I think the 200 were sent at the body armored officers with guns. Just a few at guard.
If I remember the picture of the suitcases on the floor correctly, they still had some guns inside. I’ll try to find it again. Also, they haven’t released pics of the bedroom, maybe more there.
Hotel employees noted the glass falling. Think it was reported on police scanner by police.
