Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the Taliban for half a decade after abandoning his Afghanistan post, is expected to plead guilty to desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, two individuals with knowledge of the case said.
Bergdahl’s decision to plead guilty rather than face trial marks another twist in an eight-year drama that caused the nation to wrestle with difficult questions of loyalty, negotiating with hostage takers and America’s commitment not to leave its troops behind. President Donald Trump has called Bergdahl a “no-good traitor” who “should have been executed.”
The decision by the 31-year-old Idaho native leaves open whether he will return to captivity for years — this time in a U.S. prison — or receive a lesser sentence that reflects the time the Taliban held him under brutal conditions. He says he had been caged, kept in darkness, beaten and chained to a bed.
Bergdahl could face up to five years on the desertion charge and a life sentence for misbehavior.
Why doesn’t he just pretend to be a “woman,” like that faggot Manning? He’d get preferential treatment.
Maybe not execution, but certainly a long sentence and forfeiture of all military benefits.

I’m so tired of the trite phraseology that goes into the news. Did “the nation wrestle with difficult questions” on this? I don’t remember that. What I remember is an administration that lied to us all the time lying about this is plainly traitorous SOB.

No, it didn’t. No real American that I know was “caused to wrestle” with any question and all. It was obvious from the start he was deserter and should be court martial ed.
Every Soldier in his unit should be provided with the opportunity to give him one good kick to his head.
He deserted his post in combat theater in the middle of a conflict. Six soldiers died and several were critically wounded in the initial search for him. He should have been shot.
Such a waste of tax dollars and oxygen.

If I’m not mistaken 6 good men were killed while looking for this cowardly deserting dirt bag who Obozo referred to as a hero when he loosed 5 Taliban commanders from GITMO. They should hang that traitor obozo too!!
