San Juan Mayor Turned Her Back When Asked to Swear an Oath to the U.S. Constitution
PJ Media ^ | 10/06/2017

San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz has been feuding with President Trump, who she says hasn't done enough to aid the people of her island who are suffering after two devastating hurricanes. The Trump administration says they've been doing everything possible, noting that tons (literally) of federal aid has actually been sent their way. Trump rebutted her by musing that the people of Puerto Rico want everything done for them as opposed to picking themselves up by their bootstraps. Like many of Trump's comments, this set off even more of a firestorm.

But, it turns out, Yulín Cruz was fairly biased to begin with. She wore a shirt with the word "Nasty" on it, alluding to Trump's reference to "nasty women," while appearing on Univision television. And in 2013, when she was taking her oath of office, she was asked to swear to uphold the U.S. Constitution, and she turned her back on the proceedings. She eventually did take the full oath, but you could tell she wasn't happy with that line. She literally turned her back on the U.S. Constitution...

In my very limited Spanish I believe she referred to Independent Puerto Rico.
Sounds good to me.!

Thanks for the clarification. This video is not what PJ Media indicated it was.

We have enough stuff to dislike her, no reason to do our own version of Fake News. She clearly pledged to the U.S. when she turned back around.

I’m so sick of this crap. I wish we could exile people for these seditious acts and statements.

A visit to Mexico City a couple of weeks ago would have been even nicer for her...

RE: She clearly pledged to the U.S. when she turned back around.

Reluctantly I would have to say (otherwise, she would not have been considered to be officially sworn in). But Why turn around when the US Constitution was mentioned in the first place?

If you watch the other YouTube link in the thread there’s clearly a disturbance off to the left. Many people on the platform turned to look, not just her.

More proof Puerto Rico is no more American than Mexico is.

Let this island go. Give them their independence. They aren't Americans.

I was there for a year (1993). San Juan had dumpy areas. They crammed people into small areas. I worked at Roosevelt Roads Naval station which was really nice. The areas around it were too. We had workers commuting daily by ferry from Vieques island. Then came JJ and gang who managed to run the Navy off the portion of Vieques that was used as a practice bombing range. Since the navy did not have the range on Vieques there was no need for the Roosevelt Roads base either so they shut it down.
Had the base been kept open, support would be coming a lot faster now since they had an airfield and port facilities.
I lived off base and the infrastructure was sorry. Regular power and water losses. Everyone kept a supply of drinking water on hand. We had to go to the pool to get water to flush toilets. The government was corrupt then so no telling what it is now.
