CBS News Reveals Incredible Gun Ignorance: Stephen Paddock Fired ĎAutomatic Roundsí
Breitbart ^ | 4 Oct 2017 | AWR Hawkins

Posted on 10/06/2017 9:22:27 AM PDT by Cheerio

In an October 4 report, CBS News claims that Las Vegas attacker Stephen Paddock had AR-15s that fired “automatic rounds.”

The report begins with this paragraph:

Machine guns— weapons that fire multiple shot with one pull of the trigger—have been technically illegal since the mid-1980s. Yet while the guns that Stephen Paddock used to shoot more than 500 people in Las Vegas fired automatic rounds, they were perfectly legal, according to rules established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

Two comments are necessary on this paragraph. The first point is that machine guns have not “technically been illegal since the mid-1980s.” Rather, their sale has been regulated in a way that prevents private ownership of any machine gun made after 1986.

So, he could have legally bought a Gatling gun from Rick at the pawn shop. I know Rick had one at one time. He could have sold it.

Almost as good as analyst on MSNBC during their Las Vegas coverage that said it took so long for police to reach the suspect because they couldn't tell where the shots were coming from and perhaps the government should pass a law requiring all ammo to be light up “tracer ammo”. She went on to say that the law already required the military to use that time of ammo and it works because she saw it once during a training exercise.

Actually there is a such thing as automatic rounds; remember the Aussie based “Metal Storm” company? They were developing a integrated nose to primer munitions system. As I recall one of the proto-types was able to attain ~15,000 rounds per second. It could basically fire a “column” of bullets nearly instantly, but then you had to reload. They had multi-barrel configurations, even with grenades, so it would be pretty good as a one-off perimeter defense or security capability.

The media are an a55!

“...Machine guns— weapons that fire multiple shot with one pull of the trigger—have been technically illegal since the mid-1980s...”

—More precisely, fully automatic weapons as Machine guns fire battle rifle rounds and sub-machine guns fire pistol rounds. In 1986, the manufacture and sale under “standard” NFA procedures was halted. Manufacturing and sale can only be conducted by, for, and between authorized agencies/licensed manufacturers/sellers. Civilians can still acquire gear manufactured prior to 86’ at EXORBITANT prices.

“...Yet while the guns that Stephen Paddock used to shoot more than 500 people in Las Vegas fired automatic rounds, they were perfectly legal, according to rules established by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).

—yeah, automatic rounds...and is there reporting on injuries yet? How many folks were shot/knocked over/trampled?

“Two comments are necessary on this paragraph. The first point is that machine guns have not “technically been illegal since the mid-1980s.” Rather, their sale has been regulated in a way that prevents private ownership of any machine gun made after 1986.”

The press is willfully ignorant in these matters. Had to send an email to FNC (FTFO on it being read) pointing out that many of their commentators were describing the bump fire stock as converting a rifle to automatic (no changes are made to the serialized portion of the weapon)....Really ignorant or willfully so.

It’s true. An insider told me that Stephen Paddock had “12 gauge Glock AR-47 assault rifles that fired pump-action fully-automatic rounds.”

on fox news outnumbered- one of the hosts stated that bump stocks turn a gun into an automatic which is a felony- The ignorance is stunning- obama’s administration ok’d it twice because it allows disabled people to enjoy shooting and hunting, AND does NOT turn a semi into an automatic weapon by definition- so no- it is NOT a felony to use the bump stock as the law stands

I remember years ago when ABC was busted for filming fake crime scenes. They had a story but no film, so they created a fake film.

I remember having to install a C6 or TH400 into my automatic rounds.

Took a lot of transmission fluid, too.

That’s why Muncie M-22 manual rounds are more practical.

These days, you can buy Plutonium on any street corner; it ain’t like 1955.

This evil bastard, being in NV, had the time and the money to get a real tax stamp MG. Alas, us Californians can’t get them regardless of cash or time.

....have been technically illegal since the mid-1980s

No no no! Neither machine guns or owning a machine gun is illegal. It merely requires that a background check be passed and a tax stamp $200 be purchased.
