Someone needs to explain that to all the immigration doves at Free Republic who support the DACA Amnesty if it comes with “mandates” for the Wall, E-Verify, and other laws that will never be enforced.
Once the Wall is built, we will be paying 100,000 new border guards to sit there and watch Mexicans climb over it!
But, at least in the olden days, another reason for imprisonment rather than, for example, financial restitution and a punitive fine, was to isolate the criminal from society so that he would not simply immediately commit the same crime again. Reducing this crime from a felony to a misdemeanor is itself a crime against the public health.
I was frankly shocked that prior to this bills passage, California had such strict laws regarding AIDS. A throwback to a saner age?
