Yesterday afternoon I went to a place designated as a shelter for evacuees to donate some non perishable food.
There was a sign outside that said not taking food donations.
The building was housing Red Cross people.
One person outside had no information as he had just arrived from Santa Cruz Red Cross and had no information about where I could leave food.
Another woman was sitting in a chair outside talking on her phone.
Laughing and having a good time.
I asked her where I could donate some food and she said she had no idea as she just got there from New York.
Why waste money on transporting people from 3,000 miles away and not immediately bring them up to speed on how to help out the victims?
I mentioned to the man that the RC during the Katrina disaster had people send money for help in the area of the hurricane and pocketed millions of dollars for “future use” and did not use the money for Katrina when that is why people donated the $’s.
I told him many people had quit giving to the Red Cross because they misused the money.
I told him to go inside and advise the RC bigwigs inside about this problem.
He said I should report my ACCUSATIONS to the Nat’l RC.
I told him it was proven facts, not accusations.
He was very indignant like I was interrupting his all expense paid vacation.
Thank goodness for the Salvation Army and other charities that will use 100% of money collected to help people in the fire areas.
The Red Cross does some good things, but it seems their main purpose is to collect and horde money.
The Red Cross does some good things, but it seems their main purpose is to collect and horde money.
That has been what they do best for decades!
Raise money for themselves during a crisis.
Salvation Army is doing great work
Red Cross has always been mostly a scam.
Redwood Credit union is where my donations are going, they did great work in a couple of other fires and know how to use the money to rebuild. Some of the RC people do tend to treat stuff like this as a vacation.
Go to the Santa Rosa Firestorm Update page on FB, they have tons of information about who needs what right now. There are links which will help you. I understand that a couple of churches which have evacuees are taking stuff.
