A federal appeals court has found that a 40-foot-tall cross on a Maryland state highway median just outside Washington violates the U.S. Constitution.
A three-judge panel of the 4th U.S. Circuit of Appeals in Richmond ruled Wednesday that the 92-year-old monument known as the Bladensburg cross amounts to government sponsorship of a particular religion. [ ]
The American Humanist Association said it endorses Christianity while ignoring non-Christian veterans.

Time for Trump to replace all of these judges.
Which was there first? Did they hqave to route the highway around the cross? If so, the right answer is to tear down the highway. OR TELL THE LITIGANTS TO SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP.
Obama appointed six of the current fifteen judges on that court. I wonder which ones were on the three-judge panel.
"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces guarding our country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense." |
It was a two to one decision. Both judges who voted to destroy the Bladenburg Cross were appointed by Obama.
Thanks for the update. That godless Marxist legacy marches on in small but significant ways.
Such absurd and offensively anti-Constitutional rulings should and must be ignored.
Why isn’t the ‘Speaker’ of the House calling for impeachment hearings?
“It was designed by John J. Earley and placed in 1919-25 in commemoration of the town’s World War I war casualties.”
And....I’m guessing 100% of the casualties from the town in WW One were at least nominally Christian.
“The Snyder-Farmer Post of the American Legion of Hyattsville erected the forty foot cross of cement and marble to recall the forty-nine men of Prince Georges County who died in World War I. The cross was dedicated on July 13, 1925, by the American Legion. A bronze tablet at the base of the monument contains the unforgettable words of Woodrow Wilson: The right is more precious than the peace; we shall fight for the things we have always carried nearest our hearts; to such a task we dedicate ourselves. At the base of the monument are the words, Valor, Endurance, Courage, Devotion. At its heart, the cross bears a great gold star.”

Time to remove every cross from the national cemeteries.
This is total BS.
I guess they really have their gaul up now that communists everywhere are destroying and taking down monuments all the time.
Also interesting this is the town of the battle for defense of Washington, before the Brits burst through and torched it.
Clinton probably put the rest in there, or at least a majority of the rest.
4500 Annapolis Rd, Bladensburg.
State Routes 202 and 450.
I checked a 1911 map (http://alabamamaps.ua.edu/historicalmaps/us_states/maryland/index2.html)
The roads appear to predate the cross.
It doesn’t make sense that they would put the cross where nobody could see it.

I always love overhead satellite images, since they show how small we really are.
That’s for sure.
I wasn’t aware that the cross was an establishment of religion.
I also guarantee that all the veterans that died (and that the memorial honors) were Christian.
If this is an establishment of religion then the government supporting planned parenthood IS.
If this is an establishment of religion then the government flying rainbow flags IS.
They’ll be taking jackhammers to the military cemeteries to erase all Christian symbols. The left and islam both hate Christians. For the moment they are allies of convenience. One day the liberals will learn that islam’s hatred of Christians is exceeded by their hatread of immoral leftists.
There is a large Cross monument at Arlington National Cemetary that was a gift from the Canadian government, to honour Americans who died while fighting as members of the Canadian military. If your judicial censors succeed in their quest I hope that Arlington at least has the decency to return the monument to Canada. Legal scum who made no sacrifice for their country spitting on the graves of those who gave all.
Bladensburg. Where the colonials turned an ran from the British marching on Washington during the war of 1812. Became known as the bladensburg races.
Otherwise. The peace cross is a beautiful and well known landmark
Hopefully can be saved. .
