Report: Bill O'Reilly settled another sexual harassment claim for $32 million
Washington Post ^ | October 21, 2017 | Paul Farhi

Former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly secretly settled a sexual harassment allegation with a network contributor for $32 million - the largest, by far, of six such agreements that eventually toppled the outspoken commentator, according to a new report.

The New York Times said Bill O'Reilly agreed to the settlement in January with Lis Wiehl, a longtime legal analyst at Fox who had worked with O’Reilly and had once offered him legal advice.

Despite knowledge of a settlement with Wiehl, Fox renewed its contract with O'Reilly in February, paying him $25 million per year over four years, the paper said.

In a brief interview on Saturday following publication of the Times story, O'Reilly declined to discuss details of the settlement with Wiehl, citing a confidentiality agreement. But he said he agreed to settle "to protect my children from the horror" of continuing adverse publicity had Wiehl's allegations been litigated in court.

"That’s it," O'Reilly said. "I knew if I took this to court there would be three years of unrelenting headlines. That’s why I did it."

Wiehl alleged O'Reilly had repeatedly harassed her, had engaged in "a nonconsensual sexual relationship" with her, and had sent gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her, the paper said.

Read the article about this in the DAILY MAIL...there's far more to this than you obviously know and your post is one sided propaganda.

Did O'Really do "something"? Probably.

Is he as "bad" as has been painted? Nobody knows for certain; however, many of these women saw a big PAY DAY and went for it; many years after the fact...IF there was a ":fact" to begin with.

Yep ... Fox News dumped their top rated program and Billy Boy shelled out 32 big because he was completely innocent ... happens to normal people every day all the time!

Paying 32 million dollars to settle a claim of “Sexual Harassment”out of court. No wonder men are fleeing the idea of marriage or for that matter any kind of contact with woman.

He made passes and slept with some of these people. Big whoop. Plenty of people perform non work-related chores for their bosses they’d rather not do, day in and day out, for decades. Imagine people being able to sue and get damages for that. This PC stuff is getting out of hand. You gotta love the fact that people are getting damages for this stuff. Whether you’re a guy or a gal, if you don’t want to deal with a handsy boss, just transfer to another department or find another job. It’s amazing that these hookers by another name are getting so much sympathy. Whatever happened to freedom of association aka liberty?

$32 million?! He could have hired the most high end prostitutes in the world for a fraction of that! Wealthy men seem to be chronically stupid.

$32 mil is not “go away, frivolous lawsuit” money. It’s GUILT money.

And no, you can’t grab the privates of your employees or coworkers, or make them touch yours. That isn’t constitutional free association. BOR is a patent pervy idiot and deserves to lose his money and his job, if AFTER BEING RECORDED masturbating on the phone to his unwilling employee and having the world hear how he wishes to rub her breasts with a falafel, losing that lawsuit, and he doesn’t lay off the molestation.

Yep, talk about 'no spin zone.' It's really hard to pretend that there was nothing to this gal's claims when BOR is willing to hand over to her that kind of scratch. Very sad to see what BOR did to his life and family (and personal fortune).

Yep. And BOR kept persisting in his idiocy even after getting busted and humiliated AND paying out many multi-million dollar settlements. No wonder he went relatively soft on ...Weiner. They’re kin.

He’s an a hole whom I couldn’t tolerate even before I read the transcript of his first harrassment suit. He is such an arrogant, thin skinned know it all. He dared to compare the claims against him with the one against Hannity this year which was by a woman who had been out to get Hannity professionally for years, and there was no there there. Hannity “fought back” and Bill said on Hannity’s show that he should have taken the same tack. Well, it’s a lot harder to “fight back” when there is audio of you admitting you’re using a vibrator on your junk while drooling into the phone with your poor employee on the other end having to hear your fantasies about middle eastern sandwiches.

Same pattern over and over. How many idiots destroy careers worth millions of dollars chasing amateurs, it’s cheaper to hire a discreet professional

You seem to be equating

"Oh, and, Smithers! Don't forget to pick up my drycleaning on the way back from your offsite business meeting!"

with

"Ooh, yea-ah! That's the way I like it! YES-SS!!! Whew! Well, you better clean up this mess and then go photocopy the rest of those documents I need."

Regards,

Go take a much needed remedial reading comprehension class!

I NEVER said that O'Really was completely "innocent"!

But what YOU wrote is dead wrong! And Bill has repeatedly said that he should have fought back, like Sean Hannity did!

A cabal went after Ailes and then they went after O'Reilly, and then they went after Sean Hannity, with the same "sexual harassment" stuff, but Sean fought back and it all went away.

None of us know what REALLY happened, we'll never know; however, some of the "piles on", at FNC, were part of the moronic, lefty Murdoch boys killing the goose that laid the golden goose, to help drag FNC leftward.

Go read the entire article about this, in the Daily Mail!

If he physically forces himself on her, it’s rape and she can report it to the police, after which the guy gets fired and spends time in prison. Instead, she decided to sleep with him and get a leg up over other people in the running for the job. To top it off, she sues him and gets millions of dollars of hush money. What ought to happen is this hooker by another name ought to be forced to compensate every one of the people she got ahead of because she slept with the boss. She got to have her cake and eat it. I have no sympathy for her.

Since O’Reilly worked in New York City, his $25 million per year would have a total tax rate of more than 50%.

In other words, O’Reilly would have needed to work for three years to pay off a settlement of $32 million.

I say bogus!

There is no way anyone would agree to an uncontested “settlement” that large.

There was not public need to know and all this really does is hurt one man. It’s just another attempt by the media to cover-up the democrats Weinstein mess.

I assume they’ll drag out Herman Cain’s accusers next..
