Chicago close to recording 600th homicide for only second time since 2003
Chicago Tribune ^ | November 6, 2017 | Madeline Buckley

Chicago is close to recording its 600th homicide for the year, only the second time the city will have reached the grim milestone since 2003, according to data kept by the Tribune.

After a weekend when 30 were people shot, five of them fatally, the number of homicides stands at 593 this year, according to the Tribune's database.

That's below the 681 homicides this time last year but substantially above other recent years.

Last year saw gun violence at levels not recorded since the late 1990s. This year has not been as bad, but the last time the city hit 600 homicides was 2003, and that was for the entire year, according to statistics kept by the Chicago Police Department.

It’s going to take a long time to reverse eight years of hope and change.

When the Democrats cure the gun violence in Chicago, then they can share their wisdom with the rest of us.

Saw last weekend’s report card and it looks like somebody’s slacking off. They’ll probably pick up the pace this coming weekend. Or all the bad guys will turn their guns in before the weekend.

Chicago has been controlled by Democrats since 1931—that is 86 years.

You would think there would be business and civic leaders who would be speaking out against the Mayor and his corrupt inept administration for allowing this mostly black on black carnage to continue.

It is a human tragedy that is just allowed to go on and on, week after week, year after year, until it has become a national joke.

Another milestone has been reached—up to 601 homicides this year.

Current stats:

Year to Date

Shot & Killed: 557
Shot & Wounded: 2644
Total Shot: 3201
Total Homicides: 601

More information you would dream possible exists right here:

Guns don’t commit violence.
Thugs and crazy people do.

An account of the 30 most murderous cities in America was recently announced by Neighborhood Scout Crime Analytics, as reported by WND, which listed them off as follows: “East St. Louis, Illinois; Chester, Pennsylvania.; St. Louis, Missouri.; Baltimore; Petersburg, Virginia; Flint, Michigan; Detroit; New Orleans; Camden, New Jersey; Wilmington, Delaware; Birmingham, Alabama; Newark, New Jersey; Monroe, Louisiana; Portsmouth, Virginia; Cleveland; Jackson, Mississippi; Riviera Beach, Florida; Youngstown, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Bessemer, Alabama; Banning, California; Hartford, Connecticut; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Salinas, California; Goldsboro, North Carolina; Desert Hot Springs, California; East Chicago, Indiana; Milwaukee and Washington, D.C.”

It was also noted that so-called “sanctuary cities” – are anything but sanctuaries for legal residents.

68% of U.S. murders occur in 5% of its counties

Maybe the homicide rate would drop if they were better shots.

Think of the numbers of Chicago police who are on the take with the drug/gun dealers. Corruption runs deep in that city.

Yes, it sseems that 20% of the victims are killed and 80% are wounded.

The result: an estimated $175 million in medical costs in 2017 alone in Chicago.

I’ll bet there are some wishing for the calmer, good ol’ days of Alphonse Capone. A lot less killing.

Isn't it time to DO something??!

Common sense reform - just one more great law.

We need a law that makes shooting humans with guns illegal.
