He was a DA in Etowah County, Alabama. He was first appointed to succeed a deceased state circuit court judge, then was elected to a full six year term later.
He had a Ten Commandments plaque in his circuit courtroom and gain some notiriety for that. He was later elected as Chief Justice of the state supreme court.
