If McConnell sabotages Moore now and the Democrats take the seat for six years, that takes a lot of pressure off McConnell.
If Moore holds on and wins and is then ousted, the seat becomes vacant again and the Governor can appoint Luther Strange for another two years.

I also have read since that Moore ruled in her divorce case but no necessarily for or against. That was hearsay, that he ruled against. Either way, he ruled in her divorce, so she is absolutely lying about no contact since 1977 unless that of course is a lie, which it most obviously is, as far as her accusation.
