Skip to comments.Twitter tremoves verification of people 'we in no way endorse', like Richard Spencer

Sure, being verified on social media isn't always as good as people think, but after a recent blowup, Twitter says it's addressing the "perception" of endorsement a blue checkmark confers. While the network has notably verified the accounts of self-proclaimed white supremacists and Nazis, it appears to be reversing that policy. One item on the new list of reasons an account can lose verification cites promoting hate against certain races/nationality or supporting groups that do.
Twitter needs to realize social media sites have finite lifespans.
Only idiots could confuse “verification” with “endorsement.”
The verification check mark is simply so that users know an account is operated by the “real” person it claims to be. Since there are tons of fraudulent and spam accounts on Twitter, the verification check is useful to confirm (verify) existing public figures. This has nothing at all to do with “endorsement.”
This policy will not be applied to those who impugn White men.
That is The MySpace Lesson.
Twitter is staffed with SJW—Cultural marxists. Their impulse is to ban and censor everyone they disagree with.
Not a good move for future viability as a money making venture but they don’t care. See the NFL as an example. These people are thoroughly brainwashed with a heaping helping of mental illness on top of it.
Why continue to patronize a monopoly of Ultraleftwing bay area corps and then whine when you discover that they persecute you for your conservative beliefs? Get off your butt and invent or support alternatives.
That’s a good point. They basically are saying they will remove the verification for “promoting hate.”
I assume saying that homosexuality is a sin would qualify as promoting hate.
Of course, they are virtue signaling and looking for free press. This trend will continue, after a while it won’t be enough to remove the verification tag, they will have to ban the account holders.
“It’s okay to be white”.
Conservatives are next.
you be hatin, glasseye unverified
And therein lies the biggest problem. Anyone can use that handle and tweet whatever, and have it attributed to them.
FYI, I have over 20,000 followers and do not have the verification check mark. Oh well.
It does. I was put in time-out for speaking clearly against sodomy from the Bible (actually only quoted a bible verse). The vile and wicked things said about my family and myself are still floating around on there. I’ve never seen such wickedness. Truly demon-inspired. I haven’t been there for months now. I certainly can live without it.
By the way, I had 2,000+ followers.
They’ve BEEN censoring and banning conservatives. I just got banned for the umpteenth time for posting a comment about ashley judd.
“This is what a hollyweird hypocritical whore looks like”
That’s considered hateful speech by the SJWs at twitter.
So what if Richard Spencer believes what he does? When has it become a level 10 crime against humanity to believe your race is better than others? Better not ever travel to asia if people who think that way offends you. Although, of course, this only applies to whites
“I certainly can live without it.”
#metoo. I’m not going to sign up again.
Like Napoleon says “All animals are equal. Some animals are more equal than others.”
Twitter becomes Animal Farm.
