Sure, being verified on social media isn't always as good as people think, but after a recent blowup, Twitter says it's addressing the "perception" of endorsement a blue checkmark confers. While the network has notably verified the accounts of self-proclaimed white supremacists and Nazis, it appears to be reversing that policy. One item on the new list of reasons an account can lose verification cites promoting hate against certain races/nationality or supporting groups that do.
Twitter needs to realize social media sites have finite lifespans.
Only idiots could confuse “verification” with “endorsement.”
The verification check mark is simply so that users know an account is operated by the “real” person it claims to be. Since there are tons of fraudulent and spam accounts on Twitter, the verification check is useful to confirm (verify) existing public figures. This has nothing at all to do with “endorsement.”
This policy will not be applied to those who impugn White men.

Twitter is staffed with SJW—Cultural marxists. Their impulse is to ban and censor everyone they disagree with.
Not a good move for future viability as a money making venture but they don’t care. See the NFL as an example. These people are thoroughly brainwashed with a heaping helping of mental illness on top of it.

That’s a good point. They basically are saying they will remove the verification for “promoting hate.”
I assume saying that homosexuality is a sin would qualify as promoting hate.
Of course, they are virtue signaling and looking for free press. This trend will continue, after a while it won’t be enough to remove the verification tag, they will have to ban the account holders.

And therein lies the biggest problem. Anyone can use that handle and tweet whatever, and have it attributed to them.

It does. I was put in time-out for speaking clearly against sodomy from the Bible (actually only quoted a bible verse). The vile and wicked things said about my family and myself are still floating around on there. I’ve never seen such wickedness. Truly demon-inspired. I haven’t been there for months now.
