Put big game trophy decision on hold until such time as I review all conservation facts. Under study for years. Will update soon with Secretary Zinke. Thank you!

So was the first news fake, or did the President change his mind?

Good. I appreciate him taking the time to reconsider and review this.

Get people to develop a taste for elephant meat and the African plains will have more pachyderm farms than you can shale a stick at.

I've been hunting since I was 14.

Some of this big game stuff is just grotesque.

Savage has been complaining about bringing game African trophies back to the U.S. for the last two days. Don’t African countries regulate their big game hunting? So in principle I see nothing wrong with it. Bunny huggers seem to have a problem with it. They seem to think all of Africa cannot be trusted with their own affairs.

There is no need to take the life of animals you cannot eat,
such as Lions and Elephants.

I hope he reconsiders. It’s bad enough those animals are slaughtered for horns, ivory or whatever. If you’re gonna kill an animal, EAT IT!!!

You trust Zimbabwe to run its own affairs and see that elephants aren’t decimated even further? I don’t trust them at all!

When you make something a commodity there is an inherent interest in preserving it. The parties making $$ off these hunts will have a vested interest in preserving the species. That’s why near extinct African animals relocated to the United States are thriving here and their populations are growing.

And so, the elephant is put in danger by do-gooders in the U.S.A. who refuse to acknowledge reality.

Legal elephant hunting is keeping the elephant from extinction.

When the elephants are not worth anything to the local people, who view them as pests, the elephants go away and the local poachers become heroes.

That is the result of the policies you advocate.

Elephants breed to overpopulate the available habitat.

Either the government kills them, which costs money, sport hunters kill them, which brings in money, or poachers kill them, which wastes most of the elephant.

Those are your choices.

Elephants are social.......they are families and they grieve when one of their own dies. I wish there were some way to take them out of harms way and put them in sheltered lands and reserves around the world.

Interesting, you know something about this. Thanks for the info.
