Is that sunburn asm a mach 5 weapon? So your time to a 500 mile target would be less than 15 minutes or so. Should be enough time for the admirals to at least get their pants on.

I’m stating your post #14 is false. Show us one source that proves Burke is Aluminum above the waterline.

They also have armor around critical spaces.

Sunburn is Mach 3+ at altitude, Mach 2+ in terminal sea skimming phase.

Nasty threat, was so 30 years ago when the navy was wetting it's panties realizing they could not defeat it, let alone simulate it for training.

Russians have sold them freely to the usual suspects.

If it is subsonic

Not keeping up on current threats, eh?

There are multiple methods that could be used and I’m sure improved on.

ELF is slow but available.

Higher frequencies could be provided by vehicles that are closer to provide relay.

I would think that we would be able to modify the undersea passive sonar arrays already in place to allow for a means of transmission.

There has been discussion of utilizing laser wavelengths to assist with higher speed transfer rates through the water.

I’m not saying there aren’t challenges, but even if we can’t immediately support the submerged version - we can still initiate the surface version to start.

Even supersonic it is still 1/2 hour warning.

Yes, an egregious error on my part.

All the Burkes use all steel construction.

The CG I served on for 3 1/2 years had so many holes drilled in the superstructure to stop the cracks it looked like swiss cheese.

Burkes, while not perfect, are incredibly capable warships.
