The Hillary Effect

Would the war against preying on women be blazing so fiercely had Hillary Clinton been elected?

When I interviewed women in Hollywood about the ugly Harvey Weinstein revelations in The Times and The New Yorker, they told me that feelings of frustration and disgust at having an accused predator in the White House instead of the first woman president had helped give the story velocity.

When I talked to Susan Fowler, after her blog post about sexual harassment at Uber that toppled its C.E.O., Travis Kalanick, she said that before Donald Trump’s election, women in Silicon Valley were speaking up but no one was listening.

“I think it was different this year because Trump won and people felt powerless,” she said. “I know I did. I felt super powerless. Because I felt, with Obama in the White House, I could just take for granted that good people were in charge.”

It is also interesting to speculate: If Hillary were in the Oval, would some women have failed to summon the courage to tell their Weinstein horror stories because the producer was also a power behind the Clinton throne? As Janice Min, the former editor of The Hollywood Reporter, told me, when Barack Obama stepped off a stage and into Weinstein’s arms for a big hug after giving a $400,000 speech as an ex-president in the spring, it sent a signal that the ogre was in a protected magic circle.

And, finally, would Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and other liberals still be saying in the past few days that Bill Clinton should have resigned the presidency over his own sexual misdeeds if he now occupied the first lady’s quarters and reigned over a potent Clinton political machine?

Good God, I guess it never occurs to these people the more strong possibility is that ones like Weinstein and others like him who gave generously to Democrat coffers would have continued to be covered up by a Hillary presidency.

This is too rich.

Hillary ran the deplorably named “bimbo eruption” squad with henchmen Stepoallofus, Begala, and Carville. She stood by her man regardless of rape, sodomy with cigars, perjury and suborned perjury. She was effectively Bills pimp.

Hillary was preying on women as sure as Bill.

Yes.....what we are seeing is “Hillary’s Revenge”, being acted out from the deepest tortured recesses of her collective cult psyche......Spiritual and Mental Illness arises to take shape.....makes me think of a science fiction movie where evil armies come to life.

I wonder what Tammy Wynette would have thought of Hillary if she were still with us today? I always remember the “60 Minutes” interview and Hillary’s famous remark involving Tammy.

Dowd, living in La-La land. Giving Hillary credit for what...losing? Sounds like a sour grapes speech.

Yo, Mo, shut your pie hole.

And of course, concerning the Clarence Thomas episode, Ms. Dowd is certainly not going to be bothered to share the inconvenient fact that Anita Hill picked up the “Long Don Silver” comments from a sexual harassment case that she studied in Thomas’ law class.

Because I felt, with Obama in the White House, I could just take for granted that good people were in charge.

Of course, a lot of this either happened while Obama was in charge, or was covered up while he was in charge.

I know that doesn't make him responsible, but if the left are going to carry it that far then why can't we reply in kind?

“I think it was different this year because Trump won and people felt powerless,” she said. “I know I did. I felt super powerless. Because I felt, with Obama in the White House, I could just take for granted that good people were in charge.”

The cognitive dissonance is strong in this one.

Trump said that powerful men can grab women and no one will complain. Then Harvey Weinstein, Al Franken, et al., were outed for proving with their behavior the truth of what the President said. And the left acts like President Trump is a worse sexual predator than the men who have actually engaged in such activity, merely for making an observation?

The woman saying this must be incapable of ever realizing that had the wife of known sexual predator Bill Clinton been elected to office, the abuse of women would still be covered up. I wonder how she rationalizes the fact--which she brought up--that women were speaking up during the eight years of Obama's regime and no one listened? Does she not realize that the only reason victims of sexual predators are being taken seriously now is that we (thank God!) have a President who respects people?
