“Vodka”, you say? I’ll drink to that.

Watch for a spike in tonic water sales, and they’ll have their man!

The only thing worse than vodka is tequila.

I wish people would learn the difference between LA - Louisiana - and L. A. - Los Angeles.. At least, Los Angeles and California were listed as key words so we didn’t have to wonder where the heck is this!

I like the flavor of good vodka. Not the overpriced crap that tastes like rubbing alcohol like Grey Goose. New Amsterdam or Skyy on sale for about $10 a bottle works for me. Smirnoff is nasty, leaves you with a headache even of you only have one.

My JD story is when I was 19 and on the day one of my best friends became an American citizen we had a party. Before the party started the 2 of us shared a liter bottle - down in about 15 minutes. That was the worst ever, holding on to the floor while my first wife laughed at me. Don't remember much of the party. George Dickel #12 is drink of choice for special occasions now.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to you also! Try Sobieski Vodka for an inexpensive but good brand. It’s Polish pure rye vodka. Since the Poles invented vodka, they should know how to make it good. LOL! (flame suit on for the angry Russians and Ukrainians)

Did the same with Jack Daniels in 1984. Haven’t been able to as much as smell Bourbon without gagging since.

Jack Daniels is a whisky, not a bourbon. So drink all the Jim Beam or Maker's Mark bourbon that you want without any bad memories being triggered! I don't care for Jack Daniels either. But I do like a bourbon and coke every now and then.

Or a massive raid at the orange juice factory.

1800 gallons of vodka? Was it bottled or bulk? If it was bottled it would be easier to transport bulk you’d need a tanker. Or dad said, “Make sure no Kennedy family members were there.”

so are they talking about actual vodka, you know, made from potatoes like this one https://gizmodo.com/the-high-end-magic-behind-the-best-vodka-i-ve-ever-had-1704640242 or plain ol’ raw ethanol distilled from fermented grain?

This is an insurance job. Typical “custom distiller” with fancy LA dreams and big LA debts that can’t even do better than to recycle Absolut bottles. (See picture.) Vodka is a parity product as proved by Bowman’s Virginia Vodka’s victories in Russian “concours” taste tests. The value is purely subjective, the item is totally fungible - and that makes for a sweet insurance claim.

Thanks for explaining the possible insurance angle to me.

One or two other Comments mentioned this, but just briefly, and I was not completely clear on what the motive would be. For some reason it never occurred to me they might not be able to sell their product at or above a break even price.

At any rate, I posted this because I knew a lot of enthusiastic Free Republic drinkers would respond with some really funny Comments, and they did not disappoint.

You might want to take a look at Comment #30.

It discusses potato vodka. The link shows photos of classic copper potato stills. They are beautiful works of engineering art.
