Question: When does the hazardous NY/DC press axis become civilly/criminally liable?

Not the first time that POS Brian Ross conveniently lied about or faked a story to further an agenda. It's also not the first time the jaundiced swamp-whores and crypto-Never-Trumpers at FOX ran breathlessly to their mics, barely able to contain their glee; Our president was heading for the unthinkable constitutional crisis they've been vying for and the stock market was crashing on the news. YAAAAAAAAYYYYY!

This is worse than yelling "fire" in a crowded movie theater. No objective person can deny that they are attempting to overturn an American election and hobble the will of The People... often in unison and in an overt and coordinated fashion. They are going from irrelevant - to desperate - to threatening - to dangerous.

Can this contemptible group of self-interested northeastern metropoloids just ravage markets and disrupt the functioning of government with their perpetual flow of slander, lies and incompetence?

When they start doing tangible, demonstrable harm to the citizenry, how do we fix it?

Serious question: If they don't go out of business fast enough, or hang themselves in janitors closets, what can we do?

Question: When does the hazardous treasonous NY/DC press axis become civilly/criminally liable?

Sorry, but treason is more appropriate when discussing the NY/DC press axis.

Maybe stop letting the affairs of a few hundred mandarins in DC and NY dominate our lives? Carve out a happy, free, and Godly life outside of politics?

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

“...When they start doing tangible, demonstrable harm to the citizenry, how do we fix it?...”
There are already laws on the books that can be used. Fake news is one thing in a political arena, but when it does “demonstrable harm” in society, especially financial markets, enough is enough. Free speech and freedom of the press is one thing. Screaming “fire” in a crowed theatre and unproven falsehoods that affect the market are quite another.
In this specific case, millions of people were affected and billions of dollars lost in a very short amount of time due to these azzholes. ABC and in particular, Brian Ross, need to be held both civil & criminally liable; personally and corporately, for their incompetence in this. IF it were you or I that somehow managed to do something of this magnitude, we’d already be in jail for a long time.
The SEC should be the first agency to file charges against them over it. Then, there should be a class-action lawsuit filed against them that sues them right into bankruptcy and hopefully out of business....and let it be a lesson to the other POSs out there.

“When they start doing tangible, demonstrable harm to the citizenry, how do we fix it?”

There don’t seem to be any consequences for such behavior. I think if there were consequences, and if those consequences involved a lamp post and a bit of piano wire, the problem would rectify itself in a very short order.

The press gets a VERY WIDE BERTH when it comes to defamation - it is the law.

I’ve been saying, ON THIS SITE, that their free ride needs to end, based on their recent behavior (particularly in regard to Trump, but not only Trump - think Dan Rather) - and then I get blasted for wanting to gut the First Amendment.

Well the Founders assumed a reasonably unbiased, or at least balanced, media would always be the case in this country. It is not. It is not even close. The media is now an arm of the Democrat Party - they are a political entity defaming people on our side, and then hiding under the cloak of the First Amendment.

Don’t get me wrong, keep the First Amendment, but allow people like Trump, or those who lost thousands yesterday in their 401k’s, to SUE the media, under the SAME RULES that apply to everyone else.

Malice is now a forgone conclusion. All one has to show is negligence. That should be easy as they have a wanton disregard for the truth.

the consequence is lack of eye balls, thus the lack of revenue leading to termination of bodies and eventually the enterprise. Look at the NFL/ESPN/Disney, give backs will be nearly 800m, ESPN has terminated about 500 people and the NFL has lost about 30% of its audience. The slimes is dying on the vine, newsweak and the rest are hemorrhaging, the trumpster has effectively branded the criminal liberal media as fake, and its has stuck, hell FNN is held in higher regard by democrats then the rest of the media. Just turn it off and let them die.

Maybe massive/large Class action suits documenting harm like to our 401K’s, IRA, Sep IRAs, Keogh plans.

Unless the 1st Amendment is repealed...*never*.

The 1st Amendment is not absolute and it's not intended as a weapon for malicious media resistors using our airwaves to willfully inflict hazard on markets and governments.

1A isn't a license to engage in slander, sedition, crashing 401ks and overturning elections.
