Nixon signed the original tax law for EIC...,it will NEVER go away. The IRS Code is rife with distribution schemes AND "Special Provisions" for those whose lobbiests bought votes! It will never change in our lifetimes!

Republicans aren't going to take away the refundable child tax credit. They're not that suicidal.

There was talk of increasing it to $1600 or even $2000 and making any portion above the original $1000 non-refundable. That first $1000 would have always remained refundable. Now there's talk of making the whole $2000 refundable.
