Cloture on 8th circuit nominee Leonard Grasz.
The vote has been 47-47 for 45 minutes.
Where the shell are the missing 5 republicans??
And after this (if the nominee gets through cloture), they have to wait 30 hours to vote.
This is why they don't get much done.
Who are the five?
Did you get your answer?
I would imagine several of them are hip deep in the “cocktail hour”, which is far more important than actually doing their job!
I wasn’t keeping track of the vote tally. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re trying to kill this nomination intentionally.
where are the 5 missing political hacks? screwing their pages in the cloakroom?
Its still 47-47. Get Pence over there. When he arrives, close the vote and let him break the tie.
Amateurs!
I believe the vote has to be a majority of those sworn, so it would have to be 51.
where is VP Pence...can he vote in this or not?
I believe majority of those present.
Youre correct. So they have to round up 4 of the missing five. I wonder who the five missing Republicans are?
Cloture ends debate and allows a vote. The vote has taken place. This is a simple tie, and with Pence overseas then there is nobody to break it.
Pence is in Israel.
In Israel.
I was wrong, Senator Go even finished his fruit cup and cast his vote. So cloture was agreed to, 48-47.
Nope, just a majority of those there so long as they have a quorum. And 94 far exceeds a quorum for doing business.
Hoeven just showed up and voted. The motion was passed (48 to 47). C-Spans crawler says Senate advances nomination of Grasz. whatever that means.
thank you
Debate is ended, they can vote on the nomination in 30 hours.
I believe it’s just the majority of a recognized quorum which I believe is a total of 50.
So at 47-47, close the vote and I believe Pence can break the tie.
Used to be 2/3 to cloture, but this is one of those cases where Harry ‘dumbass’ Reid introduced us to the nuclear option.
