G.O.P. Establishment Declares Open Season on a Weakened Bannon
New York Times ^ | Dec. 15, 2017 | Jeremy W. Peters

A small group of conservative leaders had gathered in the Trump International Hotel last week for a friendly discussion about the year that was ending and their priorities for the year to come, when Stephen K. Bannon spoke up.

“I’m not going to name names,” he snapped, looking around the room as he complained about being left virtually alone to defend Roy S. Moore, accused of sexually molesting and assaulting teenage girls, while the Republican leadership and Democrats bludgeoned the Alabama Senate candidate. “If we want to win,” he added, according to three people who were in the room, “We need to stop playing footsie with the establishment. They’re just going to string you along, pat you on your head, and send you on your way.”

.....many Washington Republicans have no intention of patting Mr. Bannon on the head. They intend to kneecap him before he has the chance to recover.

“First is to dry up his money,” said Scott W. Reed, the chief political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a pillar of the Republican establishment, explaining how top Republicans in Washington were making a new round of calls to donors across the country to press them not to donate to Mr. Bannon or the candidates he supports.

Hmm. Looks like Satan’s own politics at work. No particular surprise; politics is not a force for good.

I find this an interesting point in time for the ‘E’ of the GOP to expose themselves for whom they are. To this point they have tried to keep their positions on “matters” in the speculative category as they lunge, and parry incognito under cover of the accepted protective mask.

I call this one BS, as I do believe the GOPE isn’t at all ready to take off the mask.

"I’ll put my money on Bannon."

Bingo. My guess is he's licking his wounds, reassessing what went wrong and what to do to be victorious in the 8 states that are very winnable in 18'. He is a Military Officer and Strategy & Tactics are his forte'. In the words of the Who, "we don't get fooled again"....

[“First is to dry up his money,” said Scott W. Reed, the chief political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a pillar of the Republican establishment,]

That’s it, preserve your deck chair on the Titanic.

The problem with the GOP in a nutshell. They think if they “kill” Bannon they kill the movement.

The GOP will never win another presidency with the same fools like Yeb. Trump has provided the template to win. I really don’t think they give a damn either.

Regarding the campaign only, Moore was a mini example of what Trump had to overcome to win the presidency.

And at that he only lost by 1% as stated.

The GOP was all for the “big tent” until it elected Trump on them.

An innocuous explanation might be, Blacks and urban precincts are disorganized and thus slow compared to other voters.

That seems to happen in most states and of course it’s suspicious. And any rat win so narrow is always suspect no matter the circumstances.

Bama does seem to do a good job of combating voter fraud though, the dems had their “voter suppression” arguments ready.

“When are the Republicans going to put a stop to this?”

Never. Unless President Trump takes up the issue. And then he will get resistance from both parties. I used to think that the Republican establishment were the good guys wearing the white hats. But now I am suspicious that most of them (not all) are merely the flip side of the Democrat coin. They provide the illusion that someone cares about the concerns of hard-working Americans and are battling the black-hat Democrats on our behalf. But it’s just a show to make us think we have some chance to influence our government. Ultimately, they do what they want. It was really a miracle that Donald Trump was elected. I believe that both sides were shocked and unhappy that he won. It will be interesting to see how many places will start initiating automatic voter registration in areas with high levels of illegal migrants as in California so they can stack the votes in their favor and not be caught off guard again in 2020.

Welcome to the party, Kitty. What took you so long to get here?

you can hate foolish old mitch mcconnel all you want, he’s NOT the one that screwed the pooch in alabama, and if you can’t admit what went wrong, you won’t be able to fix it.

No, they really don’t care. If you come from the perspective that there is one uniparty with two not-really-competing factions, then whether or not faction R or faction D wins is irrelevant. Ultimately the uniparty wins. The uniparty is very good at staying in power.

Politics is not a force for good. It accomplishes little, and what what little it does comes at great cost. If we were to spend 1/5 the effort and resources we spend in politics instead doing what we’re told to do in God’s instruction manual, the world would be a remarkably better place.

When are the Republicans going to put an end to this?”

————-

Your ask when the co-conspirators wth the left-wing portion of the anti-Constitutional global government uniparty, when they are going to stop doing everything in their power to deprive Trump of supporters in the Senate?

They have no intention of honoring the elective will of We the People....

Not soon

Nytimes is a fake news site. This is a very transparent attempt by the slimes to divide opposition to the Rat Party, nothing more, nothing less. Why post this tripe here?

Right. This is another smear job by the Rat Party paper on Bannon, Trump, and the GOP. The NYTimes is a huge fake news source and a propaganda arm of the DNC.
