“It’s something so subtle that most have never noticed it.”
Count me as one that had never noticed. Thank you for pointing it out! :) What an amazing moment that is for Linus and the viewer.
“The only... the ONLY... the ONLY moment ever in the half-century of the Peanuts franchise - the comic strip, the TV specials, the movies, all of it - that Linus lets go of his blanket. The same blanket that he holds onto for safety and security”
Uhh doesn’t Linus wrap his blanket around the Charlie Brown Christmas tree to support it?
It goes to show how far back the active effort to get Christ out of our society and culture really goes.
Even before I was a Christian, I loved that part of the cartoon.
That made the whole thing.
If you need a laugh today, if youre in a dark mood, Google Christmas in Hollis Charlie Brown.
:)
That was dope, yo.
Merry Christmas, dog.
Luke 2:14

This link takes you to many parallel versions of the passage and there’s a link to read it in the Greek, which it was written in originally.
It does seem selective that the peace is to men of good will, but the other translation is not out of the question either.
Someone who knows Greek might be able to help some.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
Wow! I had not noticed it. What a beautiful tribute to the power of faith. Thank you, Mr. Schultz!
Just Drop the Blanket: The Moment You Never Noticed in A Charlie Brown Christmas
gloria in altissimis Deo et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis
In English, in the Douay-Rheims translation thus reads:
Glory to God in the highest; and on earth peace to men of good will.
BABY ALLAH
A Charlie Brown Christmas should be edited to include the BABY ALLAH visited by Muhammad, the Unwise Man.
He doesn’t have his blanket there though. He didn’t carry it when he played baseball either. But it’s still the first time we see him drop the blanket.
What is the original Hebrew source text?
There was a story arc in the comics where Lucy buried his blanket and he went without it for a week. Finally, Snoopy dug up the blanket and thwarted her plan.
I believe most translation read as such:
Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
easy enough to check at biblehub.com
It is a huge difference and is similar to 2:10 where the definite article the missing from the KJV but in most other translations. The use of the changes it from all to a definite group.
Thank You! I just went back to the excerpt posted above in YouTube. It brought a wonderful tear to my eye.
Aldrin was a lay elder at a Presbyterian Church in Houston. A few weeks before launch he asked the pastor for a communion set. He had to clear it with NASA but they were fine with it.
The actual communion was performed during a period of radio silence. All because of Madelyn Murray O'Hair and her pack of nuts suing NASA because of the reading from the Bible during Apollo 8. Prior to communion Aldrin asked for a few minutes of silence so that everyone involved in the lunar program effort might reflect in his or her own way what they had been able to achieve and the sacrifices that had come with it. Then he took communion.
When he returned to Earth he gave the communion set back to his church. It is still used today, during a special "Lunar Communion" service near the anniversary of the landing.
Of course, if a cartoonist wanted to run a cartoon special based on the Koran, the networks would have tripped over themselves to run it. They want to destroy Christianity and see all those who practice it die.
The battle against Christianity has been happening for decades (actually centuries) and they are counting on us to give up at some point.
Great story. Thanks for sharing.
That’s fascinating! Thanks!!
