So all New Year's Day I am sitting and contemplating "what should be my first 2018 FR post?" The day goes by and, as always, all the good articles are always grabbed by somebody else. Then, LO! A few minutes ago I stumble upon this excellent dog waste story and thinks to myself "That's it!"
To kick off my 2018 FR Postathon Contributions, ladies & gents, I present to you the dog poop powered street lamp! Here's to well lit streets and properly curbed dogs.
Happy New Year!

How long before they start putting the street lamps on top of outhouses.

Just dog poop? If it cann handle human poop, they might like it in San Francisco!

So, continuing this train of thought...
If I was to invent a lamp that ran on urine
I could put an eternal flame of shame
on Jane Fonda’s grave!

From that diagram I have a hard time believing this thing produces more energy than it uses to heat the poo.

This is not just going to be for the dogs....
To: ProtectOurFreedom
San Francisco will use the human waste version.

Its a great kickoff post! And actually, a good idea. A lot of places already have doggie doo bag containers on the lampposts, so it shouldnt be too hard to keep the fuel coming. Yuck.
But I really appreciate people who pick up after their dogs. I was in Paris just a few days ago and I noticed that everywhere, even in the best parts of the central district, its still sidewalk hopscotch (as we used to call it in NY) to avoid the dog poop. Paris needs to be first in line for this invention!

and could spell the end for plump little bags littering roadside verges Not a chance. The world will always be full of lazy, obtuse, inconsiderate people who can't even be bothered to bend over to pick up their dog's crap.

Not sure why is this being proposed in the UK when muslims hate dogs, therefore dogs will be banned there...eventually.

San Francisco should look into this for all the human waste on the streets.

Cute idea, but at what expense??? I doubt this kind of thing will ever pay for itself. If not, it is just feel-good posturing.
