Oregonians lose it when they realize they might have to start pumping their own gas

Of all the new laws going into effect Monday (legal cannabis in California, higher minimum wages in several states, and many more), you may be surprised about which one drew the most backlash online. It appears to be Oregon House Bill 2482, which allows people who live in counties with 40,000 residents or less to pump their own gas.

Oregonians aired their frustrations on Facebook over the new law. And just about everyone else in the country made fun of them.

New California laws going into effect in 2018 New era opens in California with first sales of recreational marijuana "I don't even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian.....I say NO THANKS!" said Sandy Franklin on Facebook, in response to a post by local news station KTVL that asked for viewers' opinions on the new law.

Maybe they think they’ll be too stoned to pump their own gas.

Mike Perrone said he's been living in Oregon his whole life and refuses to pump his own gas. The reason? "I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it."

What a fag.

[”I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62”]

My goodness. It is SOOOOOO complicated. I don’t know how I filled up my car last night!!!

There needs to be a new designation - Oregon Snowflake

Ill admit, I thought this lazy and stupid practice was allowed only in NJ. What is so challenging about getting out of your car and placing the gas hose in the tank? It’s unhealthy to be sitting on your ass for long periods of time.

Must be a fine and comfy life these people live when their greatest trauma is wrought by this.

[ What a fag. ]

Exactly.

[”I had to do it once in California while visiting my brother and almost died doing it.”]

(NOT directed at WayneS) Try doing it in Obama’s South Side Chicago. Your liberal fantasy actually might come true there.

This is funny.

Though I do remember the days when attendants would pump the gas, clean your windows and check your oil as a routine thing.

Big gas stations used to give out green stamps and some would give you gifts like balloons for the kids or a drinking glass.

But even then everybody still knew how to pump their own gas.

I actually saw this in social media from a friend in Oregon (a transplant). OMG! It was hilarious! The amount of people claiming all the jobs that would be lost in Oregon and even “people will be blowing themselves up because they don’t know how to pump gas” claims.

It was so over the top, I had to go check to see if it was a joke or satire or something.

It is more evidence that most of the sheeple in this nation have become to stupid to participate in self governance.

The one time I drove through Oregon, I recall stopping for gas. As I picked up the nozzle, the clerk came running out of the station, yelling "Stop! You're breaking the law! Don't pump that gas!"

"You're kidding. Seriously?"

"Yes! Please don't pump your own gas! I'll have to report you to the police if you do!"

(Handing him the nozzle) "It's all yours."

I have traveled in & out of Oregon several times.

I never understood the law about NOT letting a car owner pump their own gas.

I was told it was ‘because gasoline was ‘carsogenic’.

Seemed to me a far larger danger to the employees who did nothing BUT PUMP GASOLINE for 8-10 hours a day as a job.

I really don’t remember the last time I had an attendant pump gas into the car for me. It’s been a long time.

The winning comment on the article:

"I cannot believe 2018 is gonna be the year I make a fortune moving to Oregon to teach people how to pump gas," wrote one person on Twitter.

Note something. The law does not state you have to pump your gas. It says you are allowed to pump your own gas. You can still go to the full-service station if you want. These liberals are complaining that other people can’t be trusted with the freedom to choose to pump their own gas.
