I thought it was important; it was for FReepers; some of the comments are "defending a pedophile" (sound familiar), and Outrage at injustice

I'll put it out there for people to kick it around if they want, have some things I need to get done.

This was a botched attempt for a PR coup against gun owners in an effort to push for more gun control!! The same as Fast and Furious gun running to Mexico was. The ATF could have picked up Koresh in town at any time without the raid.

Janet Reno had to kill them ‘to end the cycle of abuse.

Of couse the conveniently went out of contact on the final day.

The Branch Davidians were wack jobs but they didn’t deserve to be burned alive. The whole episode is nauseating and quite illustrative of what leftists do when they have power.

Whatever Koresh was or was not, that whole fiasco was unnecessary at best and criminal at worst. According to the McLennan County Sheriff at the time, Koresh routinely left the “compound” to go jogging and made multiple trips into downtown Waco on a weekly basis. If the goal was to arrest Koresh, it would have simple to have a few agents accompanied by either the SO or Texas DPS take Koresh into custody away from Mt. Carmel. This was nothing but Clinton and Reno flexing their muscles against what they saw as the “enemy”. In doing so, they caused the death of not only their own Federal agents, but Men, Women and Children.

That’s the day I went from a firm believer in the goodness of our government to a person who will never trust an armed government operative operating inside the USA again.

I'm working on bills, wish I could keyboard all of them . . .could but prefer the free sites and no obligation to credit un. arrangement(s).

I was upset at the time but didn't understand well I could see it but never was sure who started the fire.

The main reason I added this post is to ask if Alamo Girl is still with us, haven't seen her namee for a long time. She worked really hard on this as I recall.

Thanks for the comments. Back to bills. And FR contribution.

If asked, the local sheriff could have just called Koresh and he probably would have come in.

One of those killed at Mt. Carmel was a guy who went to my High School, and I knew his family. He was a “free spirit” but not the kind of guy that I could see standing around with child abuse going on. I’m pretty sure you are spot on.

Yep - just like with Randy Weaver; they could have simply picked these guys up while they were on their way to the store.

JBTs!

They practiced going into the “vault” in case of the end of the world. Kind of goes against their beliefs.

When all is said and done I still don’t trust the government.

Well, I was never a firm believer in the goodness of our government but Waco and Ruby Ridge dialed any confidence I had way way down.

Janet Reno took full responsibility. What does that even mean? Resignation, seppuku - or do you just keep doing your job and answer to God? I suppose a general has to do that, but she was Attorney General, not military.

Reagan said the same thing about the Marine barracks bombing in Lebanon. Full responsibility.

Just words. And smoke and ashes, disappearing in the air.

There was one LEO who refused to have anything to do with the raid. The McClennan County Sheriff. He told them if they’d call Koresh he’d come into town.

Perhaps I'd have a lot more angst about the "sect", if it hadn't been savagely attacked by federal agents in an apocalyptic manner.

Wouldn't it be reasoned to consider those federal BATF agents to have been "Gestapo like?" Where's that mention, while labeling others at will?

All excuses given for the raid were later found to be pure hooey.

Around 90 people died. Around ten of them were poor defenseless children. I guess it would be a lot easier to blame the Davidians for killing their own, if there hadn't been sniper fire preventing anyone from leaving the compound out of the normal doorway exits.

I read an opinion that Reno was just a puppet because Hillary wanted a woman AJ.

It pined that Eric Holder Astt. AJ was calling the shots.

Sounded possible.
