Michael Wolff’s book Fire and Fury has been questioned for its truthfulness, but as critics read through the salacious material in a supposed exposé tell-all on President Donald J. Trump's administration, it is apparent that Wolff gets basic facts wrong and has other editing errors.
One such example is his claim that Donald Trump did not know who Speaker of the House John Boehner (R-OH) was in 2015. But, as pointed out by Buzzfeed’s Henry Gomez, the author also gets the year that Boehner resigned incorrect as well.
So, not only does Trump not knowing Boehner ring false, Wolff also writes that Boehner was forced out as speaker four years earlier than he actually was. pic.twitter.com/CEgu9287Qx— Henry J. Gomez (@HenryJGomez) January 8, 2018
Boehner actually became Speaker of the House in 2011 and resigned in 2015. It may be understandable if this was a simple editing oversight. But another sign that whoever edited this book did their job poorly is the fact that the word “public” is mistyped as "pubic" at least two times in the book. Those two instances are seen here, per a Google books search:
The fact that the book has so many other factual errors in addition to these simple editing mistakes makes one question how much scrutiny it was actually given by the publisher. But it should not surprise readers that there are incorrect "facts" in the book. In the Author's Note, Wolff writes that “looseness with the truth” is an “elemental thread of the book.” He also adds that in many instances, he “has settled on version of events I believe to be true.” Meaning, based purely on sources that he trusts without any evidence or other first hand witnesses, Wolff is saying many of these stories should be taken as fact because he believes them. Again, as shown here by a Google Books search:
Wolff never really distinguishes whether the anecdotes he presents are "version of events" that he thinks are real, or are actually true. That clearly did not matter to the editor and neither did the spelling mistakes. It should matter to the reader, but it probably will not. In truth, this book is simply fodder for bored liberals in Washington, DC who want to abdicate responsibility for blowing an election by reassuring themselves with some false hope that the real estate mogul - turned reality TV star - turned politician who drubbed Hillary Clinton in the electoral college will someday get impeached.
The Left just “says stuff”.
Doesn’t have to be true.
Doesn’t have to be properly spelled.
Doesn’t have to be grammatically correct.
They have a narrative. That’s all that matters.
The book is as phoney as the dossier, and used for the same thing. An attempt to take out Trump.
Fire and Fury is nothing more than Trump dossier 2.0. Fake.
Stalinists lie. Always
Saul Alinsky said it was ok.
Right and I wish Donald would stop talking about it.
THIS #### IS REALLY GETTING TO ME. THE BOOKS, THE MSM ATTACKS. THE DEEP STATE SOFT COUP.
IF THEY MANAGE TO GET TRUMP OUT OF OFFICE, BLOOD WILL FLOW.

We are in a WAR.
Whether one wants to admit it or not.
And a breath away from civil war.
Its just fiction. Theres nothing wrong with writing fiction- I love a good murder mystery. Just dont pretend to be a journalist and parade your fiction as non-fiction. This book is just trash. Something Mr. Blackwell would have written.
These ass hat libtards asume we will all roll over and play dead, if they manage to get Trump out. They might be assuming too much.
THEY ARE assuming too much.
Cause there’s nothing to lose if they oust Trump.
It’s us or them after that.
I live in NYC/USSR but I have been going more and more to the gun ranges in PA.
All my neighbors on staten island have guns because they have businesses.
But they are not armed like the midwest and south.
“If the shoe fits, wear it.”
“pubic” is just about as close as it gets for any liberal on his way to adulthood.
It might have been fact-checked by Fusion-GPS.
I have two sisters living in Texas. Texans think on an entirely different plane than most everyone else. Many people come to their church services armed, including the head deacon, who is the county Sheriff. One never knows when the bad guys will show up at their churches.
There are some gun grabbers around too. They tell them, if you think you have what it takes, come get them, if you dare. From having lived in Texas myself, I believe they mean it. 👍
Gosh I’m so shocked
We all wished Boehner had resigned in 2011.
True story: I was working for a conservative congressman back in the 1970’s and one day I asked one of the veteran women staffers (there were only two men on the staff, myself and another gentleman) to show me how they handled mail and the robotype machine.
She pulled off a newly printed letter that the congressman was sending to about 2,500 Republican women on the issue of “Public Campaign Financing Reform”.
Well, having been a copy-editor as well as reporter, I read it and said that there was an very embarrassing typo in it. I gave it to the staffer and pointed that that instead of “Public Campaign Finance Reform”, it read “Pubic Campaign Finance Reform, to which she said half hysterically and half in humor, “Oh my god, we just sent out 650 copies of this letter to leading Republican women across the U.S.”
They rest did not get sent and we laughed our backsides off. She did thank me for helping to prevent a further spelling faux pas.
There was no “autocheck” back in those days. People actually had to do their own proofreading.
He is in for it now. The lose/loose nazis are gonna be all over him. Lol
