Taking a semester off from Texas Tech University to help her family recover from Hurricane Harvey, Diana Durkin was thrilled to return to campus for her sophomore year. But ironically, it was her enthusiasm that nearly halted her plans when she was stopped by the TSA before a Jan. 6 flight out of William P. Hobby Airport in Houston.
I love Texas Tech. I love the people, I love the school. Anytime I see someone I get really excited, the 19-year-old told BuzzFeed News.
In a nod to TTUs mascot, the Masked Rider, Durkin said that Texas Tech fans often salute each other with a finger gun and a Wreck em slogan when they see each other which is exactly what got her flagged by the TSA.
Waiting on line for security, Durkin spotted a man in a Texas Tech hoodie, and reflexively threw up a finger gun, to which he gave an odd look. Moments after, a TSA agent led her out of line to question the gesture. Taking to Twitter in a panic to detail the incident, Durkins well-intentioned mishap soon went viral.
In the airport security line and I see someone wearing a Texas Tech hoodie and I look at them and do the gun hand signal because wreck em amiright [sic]. tsa is now pulling me aside to talk to me, she wrote in a post that soon won over 3,700 retweet sand 38,000 likes.

Maybe it was an assault finger.
The TSA think they are being vigilant when in reality all they are doing is confirming our worst fears about what pathetic tunnel-visioned jobsworths they are.
the next terrorist they catch will be the first......we pay these people only for peace of mind
Good thing she wasn’t eating a pop tart.

But stand in line uttering Islamic prayers and they’ll leave you alone.
The real danger of finger-guns is they don’t show up on airport scanners. That and the finger-gun show loophole. We need laws.
Ping.
My daughter goes to Tech, of course the Liberals want to get rid of Tech’s “Guns Up!” slogan.
I wonder how many snowflakes ran to their safe spaces and pet their puppies after seeing that firearm?
Texas has some gorgeous ladies. Must be something in the water there!
Yea at least she didnt have a Pop Tart pistol in her pockets.
Understand that the TSA’s purpose is not “security”, its purpose is to intimidate and cow the population into submission.
Eventually the average person becomes willing to accept anything. Almost there folks.
This happens all the time in elementary schools. Maybe the Tech hoodie was a gift and he had no idea about the hand sign? I *can* see how a stranger making a pistol signal at you in an airport line could feel somewhat threatening. But the big smile that I’m sure accompanied it would tend to disarm me. But maybe that’s her plan! See something, say something, as long as they’re WHITE it’s perfectly safe. And you get Virtue Signalling Green Stamps (C) with every incident!
Short barreled weapon, too. Lucky the ATF didn’t gun him down.
Muzzies celebrated on TT campus on 9/11/2001 after the twin towers cam down. Campus police were told to stand down.

The article notes that the TSA let her go AFTER giving her a “full pat-down”. I’m sure they were very thorough...
Or is it that deaf people can make a "finger gun" but hearing people can't? So is that what could be called "Deaf Privilege"?
Were they from New Jersey?
I don’t doubt it happened.
Your stupid TSA moment of the day....Texas Ping
*shaking my head....*
