Graham: Illegal immigrants come to U.S. from "hellholes" [2013]

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., one of the "gang of eight" bipartisan senators who drafted the comprehensive immigration reform bill, attempted on Thursday to cast the immigration debate as an economic issue but ended up having to clarify that his remarks weren't meant as a slight to Mexico.

"I don't know how many fences we have on our Canadian border," Graham said in a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting. "Why are we OK up there and not OK to the south?"

It's "the tale of two borders," Graham continued. "Why is one a problem and the other is not? Because Canada is a place that people like to stay. They like Canada, we like Canada."

By contrast, he said, "The people coming across this other border live in hellholes. Our problem is we can't have everybody who lives in a hellhole coming to America. If you don't agree the difference [between the borders] is jobs, we just don't agree."

On the “hole” scale, wouldn’t “Sh*thole” be a much milder pejorative than “Hellhole”? I mean, you are in a Hellhole for all eternity with fire and brimstone all around with Old Scratch sticking his pitchfork into you nonstop. A “Sh*thole” is just a stinky place on this mortal coil.

So, on balance, what Linda said is far, far worse than what a Dem or two claims that DJT said.

Gramnesty is a faggot liberal. He is anti American worker. He is anti Trump. Trump is so huge that he feels no threat from this moron. He should be discounted and thrown away on anything he says.

Graham would have used the word “sh*thole” instead of “hellhole”, but he rather likes the former hole-type(.)

I’d say that Hellholes are much worse because once you’re in hell, you’re not getting back out. At least with a $hithole, you can clean it up.

“Graham then responded, “I wasn’t slandering Mexico, I was just talking about all the places people want to leave for whatever reason”

So it’s not racist when he said it ?!?!

Hell holes have lots of fire
ash holes lots of excrements

If you look at pictures of the countries Trump mentioned his description was more accurate

Why are they hell holes? It is because they have made alliances with hell. So have we, more and more. We had better break them.

Generally, I separate ‘hellhole’ from ‘s**thole’....totally different atmosphere. Hellhole is typically a war-like state of affairs and your odds of surviving are marginal. In a s**thole, it could be some Central American country or Haiti, where corruption exists...things are marginally working....and some dictator or Democrat in charge.

We don’t have any hellholes in the US, but we do have some s**tholes (Memphis is a good example).
