My old neighborhood (south L.A.) was a $hit hole when I was there and it still is.
My home town (Seattle) is a literal *hole, because you can pee and defecate wherever / whenever / however you want. There are homeless all over the place. And the roads belong to a third-world country. How do I feel? Exonerated, because Seattle is now run by a bunch of insane Democrats, and I try to avoid ever going there if possible.

Yes, $hit hole refers to the condition of a country and not necessarily of it’s people. In most of the “$hit hole countries,” the hapless citizens may not in and of themselves be representative of the comment. OTOH when you use the term “fat turd” in a sentence with the name “Frank Luntz,” it DOES refer to the physical attributes of that particular individual.

How would I ‘feel’? I’d probably be motivated to clean it up, but it appears the denizens of honest-to-goodness shitholes are happy to continue living in them, hoping someone else will clean them up.

With Haiti $hit hole refers to another Clinton mess. Heartbreaking to see how they not only stole all the money (billions) but took the damn country over. Put her brother in charge of resources, making the Haiti people have to clear any transaction through them.
Why can’t we do anything about that? Get the Clinton crime family out of Haiti and get them their money back.
Reminds me of Puerto Rico where the local residents are sitting around and waiting for others to come in and clean up the mess from last year's hurricanes. We should sell that island away and send all Puerto Ricans packing with it. Do like the Brits when they gave up Hong Kong, stripped them of UK citizenship.
