An internal poll from Republican Adam Laxalt’s gubernatorial campaign shows him well in front of primary opponent Treasurer Dan Schwartz, by a margin of 66 percent to 7 percent.

The poll showed Laxalt ahead but in a tighter race for the general election against both major Democratic candidates. It had Laxalt up six points on Clark County Commissioner Steve Sisolak, by a percent margin of 44-38, and ahead of Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani by a percent margin of 45-34.

Laxalt, Nevada’s attorney general, has been endorsed by Vice President Mike Pence and a slew of Republican governors including Arizona’s Doug Ducey and Wisconsin’s Scott Walker. Nevada GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval has not endorsed anyone in the race.

The real question in Nevada is which of these candidates if any, stands with Cliven Bundy in supporting state and local control of the land currently under federal control.

Wow. If I were Schwartz, I'd quietly withdraw and spare myself the embarrassment of such a blowout. Run for another statewide office instead.

30 seconds with search:

One of the real challenges Nevada continues to face is the limited access we have to many of our natural resources. There are many reasons for this, including the overreach of various government agencies, but much of the problem stems from the fact that the federal government still maintains outsized control over our lands. This chokes off opportunities for economic growth and development, especially in our state’s rural communities.

My approach as Governor will include creating a new commission that will focus on identifying ways to empower our local communities with better access to our lands and natural resources. I’ll also work with the federal government to ease restrictions on land use and access, and to push for the transfer of ownership of more of the lands within our borders — particularly in cases where our local governments can demonstrate clear benefits that the transfers would produce. More local control will lead to greater economic opportunity and prosperity, more responsible use of our resources — including our water — and an environment in which our ranching, mining, agricultural and recreational communities can thrive.

Words work better when they translate into action.

Bret Whipple, Cliven Bundy’s attorney, suggested a political career for his client.

?????????

He would be attacked as viciously as Roy Moore.

Not meaning to offend or pick a fight but from what I've seen the labor unions control Nevada and it doesn't matter what you or any other good conservatives want.

“Never Trumper. Ain’t voting for him.”

After Trump I might not vote for president again, but it’ll be because I understand how things work now. There are ‘approved’ candidates that elites consider ‘appropriate’ and there are people who truly value America and want to do what’s right. Chances of getting another one like Trump or Reagan in my lifetime will probably not happen, and I don’t think I can vote for anything less.

SIGH, Yeah, and most of the polls in Alabama gave Roy Moore a huge lead even after the sexual accusations against him broke.

What happened to those polls?

Definitely. The ole Roy Moore procedure. They’ll do it again before the midterms because it seemed to work.

Paul Laxalt was his grandfather; Pete Domenici, his father.

I think the issue he raises is important and the Republicans have consistently given him the “cold shoulder” trying to pay lip service without taking action.

The GOP treats Bundy like JFK treated Martin Luther King trying to undermine any efforts to confront federal land control in the West and offering up an Obamalite land policy.

It is a pity that Reagan did not choose his grandfather for VP. America would have been so much more better off.

“It is a pity that Reagan did not choose his grandfather for VP. America would have been so much more better off.”

As the saying goes: “Man that’s saying a mouthful!!”

GHWB was Reagan’s BIGGEST mistake. It gave us - 4 years of GHWB; 8 years of WJBC “The Rapist”; 8 years of “Dubya”, who had no stomach for domestic political fighting and got us into a completely needless waste of a war in Iraq; 8 years of “The Marxist” and a rush towards cultural Marxism and full-blown economic Socialism.

We had to go through 28 years of leaders who - some by design, some by incompetence - drove the country deeper and deeper down the tubes - in order to get President Trump.

Only with 8 full years, in non-stop fight mode, can we hope for him to turn back the inertia towards disaster of the prior 3 decades. Otherwise - The Abyss.

Put another way - what does it say about the last 4 pre-POTUSVSG inhabitants of the Oval Office that probably, on balance, the best one for the country was - “The Rapist”??!!

That’s right. It says that in the long run, we are DOOMED.

I am just personally hoping for an ongoing 8 years of clawing back some sanity in our national political and economic life, until I can, God-willing, retire.

And its a pretty sad commentary on the state of affairs for me to have to make that statement!

Agreed.

More NV news, CD-4 GOP candidate, Las Vegas Councilman Stavros Anthony, has health issues and is exiting the race but the good news is Former Congressman Crecest Hardy is hopefully expected to jump in.
