If they do their banking with a military or government Credit Union all of those establishments have programs to cover the first pay period for military, retired military, or federal employees. They also can arrange for other emergency funding if the shutdown goes longer than one pay period.

The value of snark cannot be overestimated. The Trump Derangement Syndrome is the major factor here, as there is a general unwillingness to allow Donald J. Trump a win in whatever manner it can be brought about. And the hardest part of trying to carry out such a policy, is that Trump goes ahead with an end run around a very high percentage of of these blocks, and achieves the major part of his objectives anyway.

That image of Trump crawling into the ring in his business suit, and taking a folding chair, using it to swat aside the professional wrestlers, and picking them up and tossing them outside the ring, seems entirely plausible, and fully in line with how Trump wants the world to see how he deals with problems.
