Trump open to expanding Dreamer protection to 1.2 million despite campaign vow

It is so difficult to even understand. On one hand there are the “dreamers” who have been here many decades and who didn’t bother to become citizens... then there are people like my nephew’s wife from Russia. They did it all by the letter of the law and it literally took a few YEARS to get her here and a legal citizen. She is a joy, a treasure, a petite blonde. They have two young kids now. It was a long journey to legalize her. Then there is my Chinese neighbor. Li became a US citizen after moving here. Married a US citizen. They have 2 young children. She is a sweet gal. To get her mom to come over for a few month when Li had a baby, they had to LIE on the application. The government was afraid Li’s mom would stay here. Both of these women are wonderful US citizens now, did it all legally, and hit a wall every step of the way. But the left only wants to protect the people who come here ILLEGALLY. Odd. Very odd indeed. Unless they need an underclass for labor and votes. Only thing that would explain it.

What I've learned from the last year of Trump is to wait for the final deal to be struck, and to not get too worked up about the back-and-forth of public negotiations. I don't buy all the "4D chess" stuff but when it comes to negotiation, Trump has spent a lifetime doing it and doing it well. He knows what he's doing.

If Trump delivers a deal in which the border wall gets built, chain migration is ended and 1.2 million illegals are amnestied, that's a win. Those people are already here and the overwhelming majority will never be deported. The border wall is not here. Get it built and stipulate that none of the 1.2 million can bring their family members in, and Trump has delivered.

Senator Pat Toomey of PA has plenty of detractors here on FR by people who consider him a RINO. He'd love to legalize 25 million illegal aliens, I'm sure. He just endorsed immigration hardliner Lou Barletta to be the GOP challenger to Sen. Bob Casey (D) in November.

These RINOs know damn well which way the political winds are blowing these days.

The Sac Bee is an ultra liberal rag and will lie in a heart beat. Trump said he’d talk about it. He didn’t commit to anything. This is chickens before they hatch, on purpose to make the public think Trump is a liar if he doesn’t agree to something for them. Another blame Trump or set him up for it whether it’s true or not. Trump sets out terms the Dems won't take for political reasons. He is showing that he is the one willing to deal, and the other side are the rigid ideologues.

Build the wall, no chain migration, no lottery. He might go for two of the three with one being the Wall, and the Dems will NOT accept those terms. Lok at the whole picture, not just the headlines.

Any fishwrap published in California can be expected to push the DACA narrative. I wouldn’t be shocked to see the LA Slimes, the San Franwhacko Chronicle, and the Sacked Bee put out stories that say the administration accepts their state’s sanctuary status!
