P!
This article makes me wonder. I don’t know that I believe it.
If I were staring down the barrel of a shotgun like SK, I think I’d be a little more circumspect.
Fat boy is playing the South Koreans like a fiddle.
How are they going to practice without getting “infected” by capitalistic ideas from the southern players.
Yes, it’s ridiculous - at this point he’s probably hoping his “Olympic team” can smuggle out a few tons of food to feed the starving army.
I didn’t get to Korea until 1952, and the NK had driven almost down to Pusan and then been pushed back. The 58th was approximately the battleline. The people hated the NK. There were thousands upon thousand of orphaned kids sleeping in fields and woodlands. After all these years I imagine the memory of having a huge population killed lingers on.
Sounds like SK might just have its own version of deep state sedition.
The South Koreans seem a lot like the Germans. Fat, dumb and happy beneath the protective American nuclear umbrella. POTUS can’t be happy SK is dancing along with the Norks.
MacArthur was right!
Yes, it seems manipulative.
Olympics? Is this some kind of war game?
Oh, that'll go over big. "Yes, this is a once in your lifetime opportunity, but political imagery is more important." Oh, well, they elected him.
My Father was a Sergeant who fought in WW 11 and the Korean War.In the Korean war He and his men was trapped on a hill 3 days.He was wounded twice.Has 3 Purple Hearts. They didn’t think they would make it but they did.
He was probably there before me. It was a miracle some of the guys like yours made it out.
Consider the parallels: In the Cold War with the USSR, both sides had nuclear arsenals. Eventually, the side of freedom won out without the threatened holocaust. The Korean Peninsula is a microcosm of the Cold War, and the eventual rapprochement of the north and south is the most promising solution to the nuclear impasse which the Norks have created; and which, like the tiger they have ridden but cannot get off from, threatens to destroy them.
On the contrary, this is reminiscent of the old detente days of the Cold War
I don’t think that is the correct parallel. The direct backdrop to this is POTUS’s tough stance on NK. This just undermines that campaign and gets China/Russia off the hook. We shall see.
