I’ve found more than a few benefits of getting older. Still, I wouldn’t mind having my 25-old body back.
Fantastic read.
Explains what the heck happened to America.
That was a great read. I remember coming across Millet’s book “The Basement.” It was a true crime story and remains one of the most chilling and horrifying things I have ever read. I felt physically and emotionally ill after I finished it.
From other things I have read Millet was definitely mentally ill.
No mis-use at all. Thanks for the article.
Did you see that there is a new book out, in the UK, re this anniversary and the 2 very different groups ( Suffragists [calmer/less nutty and NOT Fabians !] V the Suffragettes ) out now? I read the review in the Daily Mail. It looks interesting and I want it.
Carry A Nation is my great, great aunt. My mom’s side.
My brothers and I are now the last blood left of that side. My younger one had lots of kids, so her line is safe.
Her book, “The Use and Need of the Life of Carry A Nation” is fascinating.
Apparently, that side of the family owned slaves. On emancipation day, nobody left, even though my great, great, great uncle that day told them they were all family and that they would do what they could to help. He was a preacher.
The families that did move out didn’t move far away at all, and many just kept living there. Nation was essentially raised by slaves.
Reading that was interesting. I remember when the Soviet Union, overnight, just stopped being the Soviet Union. I tried to get into the head of someone living there, and it was the eeriest thing.
Then I thought about what it would be like if the States walked away from the District of Corruption, and what that would be like.
Emancipation day had to be similar.
Anyway, my great, great aunt made a name for herself busting up bars in the midwest as a proponent of the tolerance movement. She got the crap kicked out of her by a drunk husband and decided to make that her cause.
“You’re Welcome” for prohibition by the way.
No, I’ll have to look it up. The British papers have been covering it extensively and the Daily Telegraph has an interview with one of the Pankhursts’ granddaughter. (Unfortunately, you can only read the first paragraph.)
Seems like the sister turned out quite well - a conservative women with family values. She was obviously speaking or writing off-the-cuff about the Adam and Eve story. Why we would be making a big deal out of it - in a very interesting interview - is beyond me.
Yes, I know; I’ve been reading the same Brit papers, on line, as you have. :-)
Great story, thanks!
BTTT Feminism
To you, maybe that is nothing but she uses it as the supposed basis of her world view. And it is as far off as it is possible to be.
Would you have any confidence in the engineering advise who used as the basis of his thoughts the idea that "Four plus Four equals thirty seven"?
It is systematic of where the world has gone wrong. We have no idea what we are basing things on and worse we don't even know that we don't know.
L8r
This is more than just mental illness; this is straight up demon possession.
It is only by the grace of God that the sister got away alive and intact.
When these people rejected God, Satan filled the void.
Read Romans1.
“My thesis is this: when men ran the world and women ran society we had a chance to conduct our lives in some semblance of balance, but women have abdicated their running of society and thus, it has collapsed dramatically. Women forced their way into the running-the-world deal and now we have a world gone mad. And the beautiful society which we Western women built is in tatters. Moms decided they were the same as men so they deserted the home and babies to grab their briefcases and rush out to run the world.”
AWESOME paragraph !!!!
.
Very brave of the lady to diss her sister’s “legacy”.
Nonsense. Not everybody takes the Bible literally. It’s an excellent interview but let’s focus on the negative, shall we?
And getting it wrong.
