Yes, Trump is perfectly clear. That’s why he was elected!

I was not aware that those two issue were actual legislation but more of a regulation put in place by earlier regimes more similar to the original Obama DACA executive order. DACA originally failed in the legislature. anyway those issue need to disappear as do anchor babies.

“Failed to advance” my ass. How about rejected it as extreme leftist crap. No more diversity lottery and chain migration only for immediate family. That’s “hard-line”?

The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 (H.R. 2580; Pub.L. 89–236, 79 Stat. 911, enacted June 30, 1968), also known as the Hart–Celler Act,[1] changed the way quotas were allocated by ending the National Origins Formula that had been in place in the United States since the Emergency Quota Act of 1921. Representative Emanuel Celler of New York proposed the bill, Senator Philip Hart of Michigan co-sponsored it, and Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts helped to promote it.

Chain migration became the driving force behind immigration to the United States in 1965, with the passage of the current version of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The 1965 legislation changed the objective of U.S. immigration policy. Rather than admitting immigrants who were likely to assimilate to our culture and succeed in the United States, American immigration policy shifted its focus to an extremely broad concept of “family reunification.” This placed the integrity of immigrant families above the economic, national security, and public safety interests of the American public. As a result, the pool of immigrants eligible to come to the United States became largely self-selecting.

Centrist? Centrist would be a end to illegal immigration, strict enforcement, no citizenship, and maybe say 5 million guest work permits

“Come March 5, doesn’t the deportations begin big time?”

No. Unless and until the two Judges have been overruled the “dreamers” are going nowhere. These bastards moved in and took Trumps leverage away in the middle of negotiations. One of worst examples of Judicial activism ever.

Putting this vote aside, isn’t it about time for the Senate to ged rid of the “Byrd Rule” requiring 60 votes to get any meaningful legislation passed? The Senate seems to be a Sink Hole for House Bills and it is time for it to get rid of their archaic rules. If the Dems. eventually regain the majority than we deserve what we get.

Thank you for that information. I was unaware of the legislative trail leading to our current problems with immigration. Seeing Ted Kennedy’s name out they does not surprise me seeing how bad it has become.

The Left has been sabotaging our country for years, cloaking their actions in noble rhetoric. Just contemplating it makes me furious. They are the descendants of the carpetbaggers.

That is why I would be willing to make a compromise on DACA with a very high entry barrier, Reading & Writing English at 12 Grade level, no criminal convictions, no gang ties, self supporting without welfare at the time of application and for the 12 years til eligibility for citizenship (I would prefer permanent residency revocable for criminal offenses). It’s so important to get rid of the visa lottery & chain migration, not to mention the WALL.

If we can get those things the small % of DACA that can jump through all the hoops is a reasonable compromise in my eyes. POTUS is already reducing legal immigration quotas to compensate for the DACA people green cards in any case. We need merit based immigration based on priorities that further American interests.

If it prevents even ONE school shooting, it is WELL WORTH deporting ALL the DACA “kids”!!
