Posted on 02/24/2018 1:13:15 AM PST by GraceG
For almost a half-hour after a school shooter dropped his assault-style rifle and escaped Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, police officers thought they were seeing his actions live on the school's security system.
They soon realized the images were tape delayed, which Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi told the South Florida Sun Sentinel made a chaotic situation more confusing.
The 19-year-old suspect Nikolas Cruz was captured an hour later in a neighborhood about 2 miles from the school where 17 people died Feb. 14.
The newspaper reports police transmissions show that police initially couldn't get to security cameras. Sheriff Scott Israel said at a news conference he didn't know about the security system delays but would look into it.

On time security cameras can’t be abused to hide infractions 0bama didn’t want reported.
I have some words, but they would just get removed by the mods.
nobody is stupid enuf to believe this.
cops are situational liars.
with that said, this story is not finished, things can change
as both sides tell their story
Its eerie the years of gaps this guy fell through to eventually break and pull this tragic and merciless event off. Right down to the 30 minutes camera delay to his escape. Unbelievable the errors and endless misses all these years, since middle school.
Just an odd question here...but when they installed this security camera feed...did the guys note on day one that this wasn’t actually live and an hour delayed? And if it is an hour delayed....why? Is the whole city feeding their security images on the 60-minute delay as well?
As each day passes, I would look upon the Broward County cops as being a misfit group...probably unable to really protect anyone, paying outrageous salaries for Barney Fife-like pretenders. It’s not just the top guy that needs to go.

Me too, but my only hope is that this tragedy get’s a real “proctological exam,”
because near as I can tell, no one who had anything to do with the safety and security of this school did what they should have done.
Somehow I dont see how a 26 minute delay would help them to delete images. There would have to be a secret system that was not delayed, it would seem to me.
We still have no info regarding the Vegas shooting. Just imagine how screwed up that one was, for them to hide it this long.
Bingo, Uncle Miltie. But the article didn’t come close to saying that, did it?
listen carefully to what this student says...
Excuses, excuses. What lies will they spew next.
I am in Illinois, and we are not allowed to have security cameras except at the front door of the schools looking out.
I have argued for these to be installed in hallways and lunchrooms, as we have had many altercations and cases of violence with “no witnesses” even though dozens were standing around.
We are told by our school board that it is illegal under state law to photograph or video tape children, thus cameras cannot be used in schools.
I am confident Illinois high school football teams are routinely videoed and player highlights posted all over youtube. There must be more to it. Or maybe less to it.
So pathetic. Chicken **&^S stand outside, hidden, listening to live gunshots and kids screaming for their lives and they make the decision to go with the delayed feed on the Iphone they are watching. They really are the perfect example of who should NOT own a gun.
Cops are watching a video as volleys of gunshots ring out....bodies are dropping like flies, and kids facing a killer scream with fear?
Has to be one of the more inane excuses, yet, to coverup their inexcusable inaction.
Starting with Sheriff Israel......every person even remotely connected with Broward L/E should be fired on the spot.
corrupt union thugs
there, fixed it for you
Broward County Colluded with state officials; the cabal Ignored Crimes Committed By Students In Order To Get Federal Grants
Broward County participated in hiding and excusing student arrests for years The school system administrators wanted to manipulate their Black/Hispanic crime statistics so as not to appear racist and to gain state and federal grant money.................
REALITY CHECK Did Broward resident Cong Debbie W/S assist Broward in getting federal grants using falsified data?

Cops were under standing orders to ignore teen criminal activity at the Broward school. So that the school could get federal funding, they were able to fudge crime statistics that heavily exposed Black/Hispanic crimes in order to falsely claim juvenile delinquency was down 60%!
The level of corruption is so intense - I would not be surprised if the cop on duty was under orders to STAND DOWN while children were being murdered. Was he a coward during those 4 minutes he stood outside while Cruz was firing? Or did Sheriff Israel direct him to set up a perimeter?
Lets ask Broward resident Cong Debbie W/S.

Washington, February 14, 2018
U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23) released the following statement on the Broward County school shooting:
As a Broward County resident for nearly 30 years and an elected official for most of that time, my heart breaks for the victims, their families, friends, and loved ones. As a parent of a Broward County high school student, and as someone with friends whose children attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, it is gut wrenching that another senseless school shooting has occurred, this time in our community.
In the United States of America, it is simply unacceptable that we allow children to run for their lives with their backpacks on. Unacceptable that we allow parents to fear for the worst while they wait to hear back from their kids, and unacceptable that we allow survivors of school shootings to live with a trauma that can never be explained away.
I stand with my community and our families and ask all Americans to keep the parents, siblings, spouses and loved ones in their prayers this evening. No American anywhere should have to feel the pain that Broward County feels today, and too many communities have felt across our country countless times before. We must do something about this senseless epidemic of gun violence and we must do it now.
